Maze Cafe Leeds Castle

The Maze Café and Grill at Leeds Castle has undergone an extensive refurbishment project, turning the existing venue into the attraction’s quickest meal option.

The café, which serves a mix of American delicacies, closed for five weeks from the first May Bank holiday to enable a thorough refurbishment project to complete.

Speaking to Premier Hospitality Magazine, Lee Scott, contract manager at Leeds Castle, said:

“We completely restyled the Maze Café and Grill to give it a brand new modern finish. The biggest change is the new counter which has been installed to allow the café to have four till points working at once. We have the till points mirroring each other, a bit like McDonalds, so that each member of staff has space to serve up the customers orders as quickly as possible.”

The practical aspects of the refurbishment mean that the café’s serving process will decrease in time and become easier for the staff working there. The café’s seating is all situated outside under a canopy which surrounds half the building.

Main contractors West Mount Construction and Architect Alan Brockington from ABCD Design used an on trend colour scheme including yellow, grey and an off-white shade to re-brand the dated space. The new colours bring a fresh and welcoming lease of life to the café, and are embellished with copper coloured hanging pendant lighting.

The refurbished Maze Café and Grill has a fun and modern menu to compliment its modern refurbishment. The menu offers something for every member of the family. From wholesome sandwiches and Paninis to slider plates of burgers and corndogs, home made juices and a Costa Coffee franchise. This dining destination is sure to please anybody visiting the attraction; serving up great food and offering great value for money.

The castle dates back to 1150 and in recent decades has become a popular destination for family days out, school trips and walking grounds. With 500 acres of beautiful parkland and formal gardens, daily activities, free flying falconry displays, special events and year round attractions, Leeds Castle is one of the best days out in Kent.

Leeds Castle has been a Norman stronghold; the private property of six of England’s medieval queens; a palace used by Henry VIII and his first wife Catherine of Aragon; a Jacobean country house; a Georgian mansion; an elegant early 20th century retreat for the influential and famous; and in the 21st century, it has become one of the most visited historic buildings in Britain. Open all year, there is something new for everyone to discover every day and the admission ticket allows you to visit as many times as you like across a whole year.
