Heating up a Hampshire House, EnviroVent

A mechanical ventilation with Heat Recovery System by EnviroVent has been specified for a superb new country house in rural Kingsclere near Newbury.

The house, which has been designed and built by Tim Cooksey of TBC Design and is on the market for £2.25m, features a traditional architecturally balanced facade with three reception rooms, five bedrooms, a family bathroom and four further bathrooms.  Set in three acres overlooking the stunning North Hampshire downs, the house is impeccably built to an extremely high specification.

Tim had specified sliding sash windows and was aware that trickle vents could harm their aesthetics.  He therefore carried out research and spoke to a number of ventilation manufacturers, including EnviroVent, whom he had met at one of the homebuilding exhibitions.

Tim said:

“I have built a number of properties, but never had an MVHR system fitted before. I was impressed with the technical knowledge and expertise of EnviroVent and the fact that their system provided a sustainable way to ventilate a property, without adding significantly to running costs.  I like the fact that the MVHR system is subtle and doesn’t have any visual impact, as it’s built into the fabric of the building, there’s also hardly any noise.”

He added:

“I would certainly choose an EnviroVent system to be designed into my next project as it matches the high spec of this property and improves the air quality indoors without having to have unsightly trickle vents.”

With the technical knowhow of EnviroVent, TBC Design specified two energiSava 380 mechanical ventilation with heat recovery systems, which use multiple extract points throughout the home to draw moist air out of the kitchen, bathrooms, and utility room. The MVHR system recovers around 90 per cent of the heat from the outgoing stale air, before feeding it back into the living room areas of the house as warm, fresh, filtered air, controlling relative humidity in the process.

Loredana Ouatu, Ventilation Adviser at EnviroVent, said:

“This challenging project required our total turnkey service from initial survey and system sizing followed by rapid installation and commissioning and we are delighted with the outcome. The energiSava 380 from Envirovent is a leading edge MVHR solution that assures optimum indoor air quality and energy efficiency at all times, recovering and recycling up to 93% of heat from within the property. It is the perfect complement to the high end specifications at this magnificent property.”

Part of the award-winning Lifetime Range®, the energiSava 380 is a whole house heat recovery system, which provides all-year-round healthy indoor air quality.  The system is extremely easy to use, with its ‘set and forget’ controls and it intelligently tracks and monitors humidity levels, detecting any rise in humidity and increasing the extract rate.

The energiSava 380 has been designed specifically for ease of installation in a unique, modular format to fit through a standard loft hatch and provide optimum flexibility. The system incorporates two modules: The dual functioning twin fan extraction and input module and the ultra-efficient heat exchange module. The lightweight and compact format allows for a one-man installation and the system is designed for easy push-button commissioning.  Complete with a five year warranty, it incorporates plug in/plug out G4 pollen filters for ease of maintenance.
