Highways England begins its programme of repair to improve the A30 and A35.

Highways England has begun a programme of repair and maintenance work to improve a 50-mile stretch of the A30 and A35 between Exeter and Bere Regis.

The overnight work, which started on Monday 11 April, includes carriageway repairs and resurfacing and routine maintenance activities such as sign cleaning and road sweeping.

Highways England team leader Julian Strong said: “We always do as much as possible to minimise the impact of our work and that is why we are combining schemes under the same road closures and carrying them out in sections at night.

“Once this package has been completed, it will ensure these sections of the A30 and A35 remain safe and reliable for many years to come.”

All the work will take place between 8pm and 6am, diversion routes will be clearly signposted during the work, and access will be maintained for residents living within the closures.

Work started on the Honiton to Axminster stretch on 11 April and is due to end on 23 April. Work will then continue from Axminster to Bridport (25 April-29 April), Bridport to Dorchester (3 May-11 May), Stinsford to Bere Regis (11 May-26 May) and the Honiton bypass (26 May-28 May).

The work is weather dependent, and any changes to the programme will be publicised in advance.
