Radisson Blu – Stunning new look for iconic Jersey hotel

Radisson

Further upgrading guest facilities at the Radisson Blu Waterfront Hotel in St Helier, Jersey, is a bedroom refurbishment project, just completed and geared to providing the ultimate in luxury, style and comfort.

Situated in a prime location on St Helier’s waterfront and offering easy access to the town centre and St. Aubin’s Bay, the Radisson Blu Waterfront Hotel offers some of the island’s finest views.

The works, which comprised the refurbishment of 60 of the hotel’s bedrooms including six suites over two floors, as well as the corridors, was designed and project managed by Trevillion Interiors, with RBS as main contractors, who were praised for their work on the scheme.

The project was carried out for The Rezidor Hotel Group – one of the world’s fastest growing hotel companies with brands including Radisson Blu, Radisson Red, Park Inn by Radisson and Quorvus.

The scheme was undertaken with the hotel in full operation, with the works being split into four phases of 15 rooms each.

The bedroom works included complete re-decoration, the installation of new carpets, soft furnishings and lighting.

John Mather, director of Trevillion Interiors said: “The project was needed in order to keep up with people’s current lifestyles which have changed so much over the years.”

“We therefore decided to remove the desk from each bedroom and replace this with a sofa unit and table which along with the designer easy chair and footstool, create a stylish relaxation area.”

New decorative lighting by Chelsom was added along with new concealed soft lighting to curtains has been installed, and all of the rooms have been decorated with a feature wall of bespoke wallpaper  depicting the Puffin  which is known as the islands most famous inhabitant, the furnishings are from a colour palette of blue and mainly neutral colours of differing textures.

In addition, the corridors have been re-decorated using a similar colour palette as used in the hotel’s recently completed bar and restaurant refurbishment project, comprising of strong blues, indigos and lime green, with dark neutrals to the walls.

The carpets used in the scheme were supplied by Newhey Carpets and The Wilton Carpet Company, with the furniture being provided by Nova Interiors, Geometric Furniture and Bourne.

“The project has gone very well and RBS have completed a very neat standard of finish which has been helped by the  good relationship between the site foreman, project team and the hotel management, it is this that has contributed to the success of the project,” said John Mather.

Also designed by Trevillion Interiors, the hotel’s Waterfront Brasserie and Terrace was extensively refurbished in 2014 – with the current bedroom upgrade adding the finishing touch of sophisticated elegance, combined with relaxed comfort.

The terrace offers guests a beautifully modern space with spectacular scenery as they dine on cuisine which is fresh in both quality and style.

On-site services also include a first-rate health club and full-service beauty salon, so that guests can feel and look their best. The superb waterfront views of the hotel’s event facilities add a memorable touch to any private party, wedding or business event.

The Radisson Blu was winner of the World Travel Award for Jersey’s leading hotel in 2013.

Also designed by Trevillion Interiors is another refurbishment of a Radisson Blu Hotel – this time in Edinburgh.

Project main contractors for the recently completed scheme were G Sharkey and Sons.

This extensive project included a full bedroom refurbishment, together with the refurbishment of the hotel’s meeting and events areas, restaurant and leisure club/spa, with the scheme being phased over two years.

John Mather said: “All of the bedrooms were completely stripped out and refurbished from scratch, with the exception of the en suite bathrooms, which were enhanced by the installation of new vanity units, new flooring and new M&E services throughout.

“In addition, the corridors were refurbished and three new lift cars were installed.”

The meeting and events facilities have also been a comprehensively refurbished, and the leisure club and spa (now re-named The Melrose Spa), on the lower ground floor, has been dramatically upgraded through a strip-out and extensive renovation, and has been completely re-designed in terms of layout and facilities, providing a larger gym, the creation of a new reception area and the addition of three new treatment rooms, sauna and steam rooms, as well as the creation of a new secondary entrance from the Royal Mile.

“The project has been relatively smooth with good communication between the design team, client and contractor,” said John Mather.
