DoubleTree by Hilton has opened its newest property in London – the 260 room DoubleTree by Hilton London ExCel. Located in the heart of London’s up-and-coming financial hub, the hotel is owned and managed by Shiva Hotels.

Dianna Vaughn, Senior Vice President and Global Head at DoubleTree Hilton said: “We are excited to welcome this beautiful hotel to the brand’s growing portfolio of more than 25 properties across the UK. DoubleTree by Hilton London ExCel offers guests the welcoming comforts and hospitality that travellers can expect from DoubleTree by Hilton, starting with the presentation of a warm, chocolate chip cookie at check-in, a symbol of the ‘little things’ that make a stay with us so memorable.”

Featuring 31 deluxe rooms and 25 suites, the hotel offers stunning views of London’s Royal Victoria Dock and is conveniently located near Canary Wharf, London ExCel, The O2, London City Airport and Emirates Air Line Cable Car, making it a great choice for business and leisure travellers alike.

Work on the project began in September 2015 and was completed by the end of March 2016.

Bradley Foot, Director at HPS Interiors, who carried out the refurbishment work on the development of the hotel, said: “The project was a conversion from a Ramada Hotel and Suites to a DoubleTree Hotel. Its 260 bedrooms, reception, bar/lounge restaurant, meeting rooms and gym were all refurbished.

“Work involved refurbishing 190 standard rooms and the conversion of 35 suites to make a further 35 standard rooms. The standard rooms work included stripping out, refurbishing, redecorating and the installation of new FF&E. The suites included reconfiguration of the areas which included creation of new bathrooms, Air Conditioning installation and redecorating rooms. The refurbishment included all corridors and lift lobbies with all works being carried out in a live operational environment.”

The 112 seat DoubleTree Restaurant, created by the award-winning interior architects at Design LSM, boasts Dock views and offers an all-day modern British and European influenced menu. The DoubleTree Lounge Bar is also open from 9am to 12am and offers an impressive range of drinks from around the world, including expertly created cocktails.

For guests wanting to stay active, DoubleTree by Hilton London ExCel offers a complimentary fitness centre with state-of-the-art equipment. Furthermore, for guests wanting to work or catch up with colleagues, the hotel offers two contemporary meeting spaces that can hold over 90 guests. Both spaces feature complimentary Wi-Fi and LCD screens.

Michael Mason-Shaw, General Manager at DoubleTree by Hilton London ExCel said: “Situated nearby two of London’s largest international conference and entertainment centres, the hotel is a great base for visitors looking to explore London’s key attractions. Our modern guest rooms offer stunning views of the Royal Victoria Dock and easy accessibility to the city, via London’s first cable car. The team and I looked forward to welcoming our first guests.”

DoubleTree by Hilton London ExCel participates in the Hilton HHonors loyalty programme, which is open to all guests and free to join. HHonors members always get the lowest price with Best Price Guarantee, along with HHonours Points, free standard Wi-Fi, access to digital check-in and digital key and no hidden fees, only when they book directly through Hilton.

Bradley added: “The project is important to us in as much as we have been working with Shiva, the owners, for almost two years, so they are an important client to us and really, like all of our clients, we have to give them the best we can, in a combination of programme, cost and quality parameters.”
