Burdens Opens Groundbreaking Infrastructure Branch In Aberdeen

For the first time ever, leading civils supplier Burdens has brought its portfolio of infrastructure brands under one roof – in Aberdeen – as part of a wider strategy to offer a one-stop shop approach to civils, groundworks, utilities and hire.

The new branch is home to four Wolseley UK brands: Burdens, Civils and Utilities Expert; Fusion Provida, distributor of gas, and water products; MCA-Fusion Hire and Repair, butt fusion and electrofusion supplier, as well as plumbing and heating supplier William Wilson.

Six new jobs have been created, including a branch manager and assistant manager, two yard operatives, a driver and a sales representative.

Burdens Aberdeen’s wide portfolio of customers includes Scottish Water, which is carrying out a £5.3 million initiative to improve drinking water quality for around 20,000 homes in Aberdeen.

The project involves upgrading around 100 miles of water pipes across the Southside of Aberdeen and outlying areas. Burdens’ strong supply chain credentials are fundamental to ensuring the project runs to schedule and minimises disruption to the local community.

Keith Dorling, Managing Director at Burdens said: “The new Aberdeen branch is an important move for the Burdens’ infrastructure proposition as we strive to bring our specialist brands closer together and provide customers with a streamlined approach to supplying their projects.”

Branch Manager, Stuart Mitchell, added: “We are the first facility of our kind to open our doors to the utility contracting, civil engineering, construction and agriculture sectors. We offer customers a single point of access to the full portfolio of civils, groundworks and utilities materials including water and gas connections such as pipe, valves and meters.

“This is all complemented by electrofusion and butt fusion machine hire, below ground drainage products, geotextiles and flag and kerb castings.”

Burdens has a fleet of more than 100 vehicles and 37 strategically located branches across the UK.
