Checking in with Galgorm Resort & Spa

Galgorm resort

Located in Ballymena and set within 163 acres of lush parkland, Galgorm Resort & Spa is a stunning four-star resort situated in truly beautiful surroundings. The premier resort is home to an award-winning spa, restaurants, bars and an extensive collection of guest rooms, alongside conference rooms, banqueting facilities and much, much more.

Over the past few years Galgorm Resort & Spa has benefitted from a strong investment programme which has seen the arrival of many new additions to the resort. Each new addition has helped to maintain the resort’s reputation for excellence, ensuring it continues to go from strength-to-strength.

But that’s not all. As well as its outstanding selection of facilities, Galgorm Resort & Spa is also achieving recognition from its peers, thanks to nods at prestigious awards ceremonies. Most recently, Galgorm Resort & Spa has appeared on the shortlist for the RICS Awards, where it is currently eyeing up two awards within the Tourism & Leisure category.

Keen to find out what the nominations mean to the resort, Premier Construction caught up with Beth Greenan, Head of Sales & Marketing to ask some all important questions. We asked Beth all about the nominations, as well the latest goings on at Galgorm.

What does it mean to you to be on the shortlist of the RICS Awards?

“We are absolutely delighted with this prestigious recognition, it is great testament to the vision of our owners and also to the skill of the architects and contractors we worked with on both builds.  Fingers crossed we are able to take home the prize on the night!”

Is this the first time that you have been nominated for a RICS Award?

“It is the first time we have been nominated so to be recognised for two of our recent projects means even more.”

Since you last spoke with Premier Construction, how well has the recent expansion been received?

“We have been blown away by the response of our guests and media to the unveiling of the Thermal Spa Village. We have a high percentage of returning guests so to see their reaction to the new Spa facilities and new Deluxe & Suite room types has been really rewarding.

“Our guest satisfaction surveys, occupancy rates and reviews on third party websites all confirm what an impact the investment has had on our business. It is also an incredibly proud moment for our staff – most of whom are long-serving – to see the hotel transformed by the investment and having the opportunity to welcome new international guests who are drawn to our extensive and unique Spa facilities.”

Is the expansion work on the resort now complete or do you have further projects in the pipeline?

“Never say never! We are fortunate that our visionary directors are always looking ahead to the next project to improve the Resort. We have a number of smaller projects in the pipeline for the coming 12 months including a nine-hole golf course, an extension to our restaurant facilities and a new lobby area.

“On a larger scale, work is about to commence on our sister property in Belfast City Centre, The Bedford. Due to open late 2017 this Grade I listed building is to be transformed into a 70 bedroom boutique hotel with three restaurants and function space – so exciting times ahead!”
