The Breakfast Club opens in Hackney Wick

Breakfast Club

Located on the site of the 2012 former Olympic press centre, The Breakfast Club has opened its newest venue in a 1.2 million square foot technology and business park in Hackney Wick.

Since opening the first location in Soho in 2005, The Breakfast Club has gone on to make a name for itself when it comes to brunches, secretive bars and pancakes. Now with nine locations, the Hackney Wick venue has gone back to basics and reflects the signature style of the first Breakfast Club on D’Arblay Street, London.
Sophie Finch, Creative Director at Finch Interiors spoke to Premier Hospitality magazine about working with The Breakfast Club on their latest venture.

She said: “The design feels relaxed and authentic reflecting the ethos of The Breakfast Club.”

The Hackney Wick venue has taken inspiration from the 1970s and has an acclaimed ‘70s theme throughout, featuring ‘70s themed wallpaper and lighting.

Sophie added: “The site is on the canal front so we made the most of the setting. All of the doors to the shop front open, giving it an inside out feel. The design is a ‘70s feel so the key features are breeze blocks and a 70’s striped graphic feature on the existing block wall that The Breakfast Club painted themselves. Above the bar is a large feature sign that says ‘Winner Winner Bacon Dinner.”

Sticking to their renowned style, The Breakfast Club will serve big brunches and cocktails as well as customer favourites including pancakes and berries and new creations such as fried chicken with sage waffles, maple syrup and chilli butter.

Work on the project began in January 2016 with Embassy Bar and Shop Fitters acting as the main contractors and Finch Interiors acting as the main interior designers. The Breakfast Club Hackney Wick opened to the public in May.

Sophie concluded:

“As always we have loved working with The Breakfast Club. Every site is unique, and this time we designed a beautiful 1970’s canal side café from a concrete shell.”
