In this month’s issue we showcase the delights of Happy Samurai; we delve into Killer Tomato; and we unveil Foundry 39.
Direct from Tokyo, Happy Samurai is a fun and friendly, super-tasty eating experience. Located at Marlow Arcade, Canterbury, the restaurant is themed on a Tokyo ramen noodle bar with wonderful and original flavours and tastes, direct from Japan. Having opened on 1st August 2016, Happy Samurai aims to make Japanese casual dining accessible to everyone by offering food that is fresh, healthy and great value for money. Located in a 1,044 sq ft site, Happy Samurai is all about being different, with a Japanese menu characterised by light, simple flavours, simple preparations and artful presentation.
Meanwhile, having started out in street food stints at Street Feast Dalston Yard, Model Market, Storeys and Leather Lane Market, Killer Tomato is now a bricks and mortar establishment, with a permanent location situated in Shepherd’s Bush, London. Serving burritos and rotating a menu of tacos and more, diners will find meat, fish and vegetarian dishes available with numerous dishes also served as vegan. Work on the project started in June 2016 with a quick turnaround needed, meaning that work was finished by the middle of July. The venue was designed and project managed by Sasha Filskow Design and Build Management.
And finally, located on Queensferry Street, Foundry 39 opened its doors to the people of Edinburgh on the 28th of July, showcasing a stunning, copper-clad all-day bar and restaurant. The site specialises in pizzas, burgers and beers, as well as a selection of signature cocktails, including a smoked rhubarb & rosemary daiquiri, a smoked heather sour and the all-time favourite, Purple Rain.
