A transformation at Kew Bridge
An impressive development which has transformed a 4.5 acre site in Brentford, Kew Bridge comprises 308 homes, ranging in size from Manhattan studio apartments to four bedroom homes.
Construction began onsite in 2010 and the development will be complete by autumn 2016, when the main contractor St George PLC will conclude their work. Admirably, St George PLC have earned recognition through a Pride in the Job Award for their fantastic achievements with Kew Bridge.
Commenting on the award, Sean Chappell, Senior Construction Manager at St George PLC, told Premier Construction:

An exceptional quality of interior fit-out has been implemented. In the bathrooms, St George PLC installed underfloor heating, chinaware baths and sinks, marble stone finishes and innovative heated stone walls. Throughout the hallways, kitchens and living rooms, oak flooring and chrome door handles and fittings combine to make a stylish, modern interior. The kitchens, which are custom designed, feature Silestone quartz worktops.
Over half of the site (2.3 acres to be precise) is landscaped open space including an attractive public piazza – which will open later in summer 2016 – 150m of new riverside walk and two reflecting pools.

“We are about to complete the development which comprises 308 homes, new shops, restaurants and offices and 2.3 acres of beautifully landscapes public space.
“The biggest challenge has been managing a large and complex development, which required substantial demolition of a former office campus while delivering the first phases of the development. As development progresses we’ve had ever decreasing space for storage, making managing logistics and deliveries increasingly challenging.
“I am incredibly proud to be involved with Kew Bridge, especially when I hear feedback from customers who are delighted with their new homes and I see how popular the One Over The Ait gastro pub and Hammond’s butcher and delicatessen are. We have taken a derelict site and created an attractive and popular new place.
“The quality of the design, construction and fit-out is exceptional and I’m pleased to be part of the team that is delivering such a high quality development.
“I am also proud of how we’ve supported apprenticeships at Kew Bridge, enabling people to learn new skills and trades, 32 apprentices have been supports on the site in a range of trades including plumbing, carpentry and electrical works.”
When asked what he thinks the new development will mean for the community, Sean replied:
“The development has helped kick-start the regeneration of Brentford, making the local area a better place to live, work and visit.”
