The Asbury

The Asbury in New Jersey mashes up Asbury Park’s Victorian-era history, rock-n-roll present and shiny future into a new kind of social hub.

The Asbury, under the design of Anda Andrei, the creative lead for the entire Asbury Park redevelopment project and Bonetti Kozerski Studio, along with David Bowd, renowned hotel innovator and iStar as Master Developer, have created a variety of public spaces that serve as a hangout for locals and visitors alike.

At The Asbury, the lobby is an action-filled centre with everything designed for perpetual motion. The front desk and check-in double as The Counter, a grab-and-go kitchen where guests can fetch keys, order coffee or buy something from the retail store.

Located across The Counter is The Pit, a ground-floor lounge and rec room complete with a pool table, pinball machines, board games and a communal table for travellers who want to feed off of the energy and get some work done.

The 110-guest rooms come in an unusually wide range of sizes to suit all kinds of travellers, from queen rooms and king rooms to family rooms and suites to bunk rooms that can sleep up to eight. The essence of the rooms is simple, clean and functional but with many thoughtful touches – light bathrooms and bright, huge closets, with lush linens and bath amenities. Black-and-white beach and music scenes adorn the walls, along with classic music posters that pay homage to Asbury Park’s rock-laden past and spectacular sea-side views.

The Asbury is a compulsive hangout for guests, locals and visitors. Their casual bar, Soundbooth, offers a space where hotel guests can jam out to live music by local bands and artists over signature cocktails. The space also features a music library, where guests can flip through stacks of vinyl and video cassettes and socialize over their favourite tunes. Its two rooftop venues, Salvation and The Baronet, offer spectacular views of the town and ocean. Salvation, located on the hotel’s upper roof is New Jersey’s most dramatic outdoor social space. The monochromatic décor, lit only by candles and lanterns also make it romantic with cosy corner hideaways and relaxing spaces. The Baronet is a surreal 4,000 square feet of lush green space, with wraparound views beyond a white picket fence that serves as an outdoor movie theatre. An enormous lighted sign from Asbury Park’s late, great Baronet Theatre hangs on a 20-foot-film projection will. The space also hosts daily yoga sessions throughout the summer months.

The Asbury Hall & Terrace is the ideal setting for celebrating life’s special occasions. Whether it be a corporate retreat, family reunion or wedding, the 4,800 square feet of flexible indoor and outdoor space is unlike any other on the Jersey Shore. Elegantly designed, and divisible into two or three smaller spaces, the hall and terrace is a blank canvas presenting endless possibilities. The Asbury’s preferred catering company and rental vendors will work with you to customise every detail and create a truly memorable experience for you and your guests.
