Middletons Steakhouse & Grill

Focusing on serving prime meat in quality surroundings, Middletons Steakhouse & Grill continues to go from strength to strength with the launch of its seventh and largest restaurant to date in Peterborough. This latest opening follows hot on the heels of the Leicester branch, which was recently nominated for a Restaurant and Bar Design Award.

Following a £1 million refurbishment, the Peterborough steakhouse is spread across two floors to cater for 180 covers with an al fresco dining area accommodating a further 50 customers. Stephen Hutton, Middletons Steakhouse Managing Director, said:

“We’re really excited to be opening our Peterborough restaurant very soon. This will be our seventh, and largest, steakhouse since launching the brand in 2011.

“We feel Peterborough has a very promising future. There has been significant investment into regenerating the city and many well-known businesses and brands are moving into the area. For us, this is a brilliant opportunity.”

Middletons focuses on serving delicious and affordable food in quality surroundings. All the meat served is prepared at the restaurant’s own butchery in Middleton, near King’s Lynn in Norfolk. The chain also caters for families with an extensive children’s menu, serves an excellent value menu during the day, and offers roast dinners on Sundays.

All restaurants in the chain have been designed by Clare Devlin, Director and Interior Designer at Devlin Design. Her work on the Leicester was recently recognised with two Restaurant and Bar Design Award nominations in the ‘Multiple Restaurant’ and ‘Restaurant and Bar in a Heritage Building’ categories. She commented:

“The restaurant is housed in a former banking hall which represents the city’s commercial growth at the turn of the 20th century. The Grade II* listed building has a magnificent 50 ft. high domed ceiling, decorative coving and original timber and marble wall paneling and stained glass windows. They were all in a bad state of repair so were carefully restored to their former glory.

“A mezzanine was installed in the main dining area on top of the kitchen to increase covers and the WC’s are housed in what used to be the old bank vault which sits off the main space.

“The restaurant has carefully been designed to reflect the Middletons brand yet also be sympathetic to the character of the existing building. Low level timber and curtain screens have cleverly been used in the main restaurant area to break it down into more intimate spaces and also help with the acoustics.

“There is a bar to the right of the restaurant with brass clad front and black granite top. The kitchen has an open pass which is surrounded by custom made antique brass wall paneling. The lighting has been carefully been designed to accentuate the original features and provide low level, intimate lighting.”

Middletons Steakhouse and Grill is a growing steakhouse chain which focuses on serving prime meat in quality surroundings. In addition to Peterborough and Leicester, the brand has branches in Colchester, King’s Lynn, Milton Keynes, Norwich and Watford.
