Pulse Design & Build, the dedicated construction arm of the Pulse Group, is working in partnership with Suffolk Coastal District Council to manage the extensive refurbishments at Deben Pool. The pool is set to be completely transformed into a state-of-the-art leisure centre following a £3m investment. Construction began earlier this month.
Pulse was awarded the contract in recognition of their impressive experience within the construction sector. The ambitious overhaul will see the Pulse Design & Build team demolish the existing facility to create a new state of the art leisure centre.
The new facility will include:
- A brand new thermal suite, complete with steam, sauna, ice rooms and lounge area
- An extended state-of-the-art 50-station gym on the first floor, with all gym equipment supplied by Pulse Fitness. This is will include CV, strength, resistance kit and a new functional training zone
- A dance studio
- Multi-purpose fitness studio
- Group cycling area
- Brand new village changing area
- Male and female changing facilities on the first floor
- A brand new reception area
- A new wheelchair accessible poolside walkway and lift to the first floor
Meanwhile, the original swimming pool will be retained and refurbished to include a new viewing gallery.

The project is part of a wider contract which in March 2015 saw Pulse become Suffolk Coastal District Council’s strategic leisure development partner for the next 20 years. The facility will be operated by Places for People, with Pulse as the Strategic Leisure Development Partner and is set to open its doors to the public in June 2018.
