Big Group Retail has won the 2018 Retail Design Expo (RDE) Innovation and Trail awards.

The awards celebrate the retail industry’s innovations in visual merchandising, retail design, branding, POS and marketing, showcasing those innovative products and services that are shaping the way the retail industry evolves.

All shortlisted exhibitors are featured in RDE’s dedicated innovation area, as well as receiving a special certificate for them to prominently displayed on their stand. The trail leads show delgates to the Innovation Winners Wall.

The awards were judged by a panel of industry experts, including Nick Widdowson, Merchandising & Creative Controller at Unilever UK; Alan Taylor, Head of Retail Design at B&Q; Sigrid Brewka-Steeves, Director of Retail Concepts at Adidas and Peter Kramers, Clarks Portfolio Director, shortlisted  entrants they believe are currently setting the retail industry alight.

Big Group Retail impressed the judges with their dimensionally accurate 3D Models of retail environments, which use structured light 3D scanned photography and infra-red measurements of the space. This allows designer and client to interact with concepts in a virtual-environment. New design concepts of displays, fittings and fixtures, created in separate software, are fitted into the 3D model, allowing clients to make real-time design decisions.

Martin Kelly, MD of Big Group Retail, said “We are extremely proud to have been recognised and awarded for our innovative piece of retail design. By combining different technologies, we have been able to provide something that is truly new, exciting and innovative. Big Group Retail have created a solution where design decisions can be made in real time, very effectively. We believe this is a major advance in retail design.”

Sarah Adams, RDE Show Director commented, “Innovation is crucial to the success of modern multichannel retailing. The Innovation Trail and Awards rewards those products, services and solutions that will drive future changes to the industry and are set to reshape the retail and brand landscape. We are extremely proud to be able to identify and celebrate the retail industry’s innovations in visual merchandising, retail design, branding, POS and marketing, showcasing those innovative products and services that are shaping the way the retail industry evolves.”
