One Park Drive

One Park Drive is a brand new apartment building currently under construction in London. The 58-storey building is the latest development in the transformation of the new district of Canary Wharf.

The unique structure has been designed by leading architects Herzog & de Meuron in its first residential venture in the UK. Standing out amongst Canary Wharf’s famous skyline, the eye-catching apartment building with its cylindrical appearance will form part of the new district of expansion in one of the city’s most celebrated areas.

Meticulous attention has been paid to the design of the building which is home to 483 luxury apartments – ranging from cleverly concise studios to spacious four-bedroom penthouses. Three typologies – Loft, Bay and Cluster – powerfully expressed in the exterior and interiors have their own distinct personalities. Each apartment will offer generous views over the surrounding docklands and across London, while the layout of the building has been planned with privacy in mind, ensuring that no unit is overlooked.

Award-winning luxury interior design studio Goddard Littlefair was responsible for creating the concept for the Bay and Cluster typologies. Much like the bold exterior, the interior brief was to create spaces that were similarly complex yet created a sense of calm and intimacy. The Goddard Littlefair team took inspiration from the framing in the architectural scheme and the ribbed texture of the external façade. Both apartment types are crisp and geometric, with the warmth of wood a major theme of the design.

The Bay apartment typology uses dark timbers and furniture to create a darker, more masculine feel. Conversely, the Cluster apartments have a lighter feel through the use of paler stone floors and lighter, grey-toned joinery. As is the case throughout One Park Drive, fixtures, fittings and finishes are of the highest quality.

Residents will also benefit from a lobby with a concierge, a library and a screening room. There will also be a modern fitness suite including a gym, a 20-metre swimming pool overlooking the docks, a steam room and a sauna.

One Park Drive has been designed to engage seamlessly with its surroundings, paying homage to its prominent waterfront location while at the same time, providing a natural circular contrast to its neighbours.

The new homes at One Park Drive were first launched to UK-based buyers in May 2017 with prices for the 483 apartments starting from £575,000 for a studio, £750,000 for a one bed, £1,080,000 for a two bed and £1,625,000 for a three bed. At the time Sir George Iacobescu, Canary Wharf Group Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, said:

“Canary Wharf has always been pioneering in its approach to the built environment and urban design. One Park Drive, the first residential building by Herzog & de Meuron in the UK, will represent the best of Canary Wharf as our private Estate develops into a new destination for London. Herzog & de Meuron are a practice that we have long admired for their meticulous approach to design, their ability to challenge preconceived beliefs and conventional wisdom, delivering a truly remarkbale finished product.

“One Park Drive will become a fixture on the London skyline and this launch represents a rare and very limited opportunity for people to buy a home in London. This is more than just a building, it is a piece of art.”

One Park Place will form the centrepiece of Canary Wharf’s new district, Wood Wharf. In total, Wood Wharf will create 3,300 new homes including 25% affordable housing on-site. It will also boast 2.8m sq ft of office space, 380,000 sq ft of retail space and over eight acres of public spaces, squares and parks. Over 17,000 new jobs will be created through hotel, leisure, construction and recreational facilities.

Construction on One Park Drive is expected to be completed in 2019. To follow its progress, please visit https://residential.canarywharf.com/one-park-drive.

Strada London

Strada London are specialist designers, manufacturers and specifiers of architectural Ironmongery for the luxury residential, hospitality and leisure markets. Strada London have particular skill in traditional production methods, including lost-wax casting and sand-casting, as well as an un-paralleled range of finishes including bronzes, nickels, chromes and precious metal finishes.

Strada London has been operating in the luxury sectors since 1981, previously working in artisan kitchen manufacturing. The company has been fortunate enough to be involved with projects all over the world including clients in St Lucia, Monaco, Paris, Dubai and of course London.

The majority of Strada London’s work is for private individuals; of their public projects, Strada London has supplied Kensington Palace, Eton College, Harrods and The University Arms Hotel in Cambridge. Strada London has had, and continues to have, the privilege of working for such well-known designers and architects as Michaelis Boyd and John Simpson and Partners.

For One Park Drive, Strada London was approached by the principal Interior Designer, Goddard Littlefair, and tasked with compiling two ironmongery schemes. Utilising their Antique Bronze and Satin Chrome finishes and adding bespoke patterning details to the primary products, Strada London was able to develop a fine combination of products that complemented the joinery details and stayed true to the design theme of the building.

Darryl Woodcock, Sales Director for Strada London, said:

“One Park Drive is yet another project in the residential sector where Strada London’s expertise has been called on. This contract required creative thinking to ensure we could introduce the level of bespoke product that the apartments required whilst ensuring budgetary viability. The final result has been very pleasing; to see the contrasting schemes now in place and the use of specialist patterning details working so well with the other design components is very satisfying.”

Darryl added:

“Our core strength lies in our versatility. We are not just great product designers. We are not just great project specifiers. We are not just great product manufacturers. We are that something very special, that company that harnesses all of those three core strengths that every architect, designer and industry specifier is looking for.

“We originally built our business on the basis that with knowledge comes competence. We still apply that same philosophy, but today’s Strada is one that leads the way with a fine balance of design prowess, manufacturing skill and specification nous.”
