Carluccio’s – Latest birth in ‘new generation’

The latest in a line of Carluccio’s ‘new generation’ restaurant openings, Carluccio’s opened a 3,000sq ft restaurant and deli in the London Marriott Hotel Maida Vale this April.

This is the third opening in a Marriott hotel for the group, which has opened at Heathrow and London’s Regents Park in the last 18 months.

Located on the ground floor of the 226-bedroom, four-star hotel, Carluccio’s can be accessed via the hotel or its own entrance on Kilburn High Road.

The 146-cover restaurant, designed by Fusion by Design, features an aperitivo and espresso lounge bar, outdoor terrace, retail area and deli.

Carluccio’s is responsible for all the food and beverage operations at the property, including conferences, events and room service.

Guests and locals will be warmly welcomed for breakfast, lunch and dinner in the large restaurant, where the very best in Italian ingredients can be found on the menu.

Dishes inspired by the late Antonio Carluccio’s food philosophy of ‘MOF MOF’ – minimum of fuss, maximum of flavour, include Orecchiette al Cavolfiore (cauliflower sauce, sautéed kale, chilli, roasted turmeric cauliflower and orecchiette pasta) and Chicken Milanese (crispy flattened chicken breast with rosemary and Grana Padano breadcrumbs, baby gem and baby plum tomatoes).

The new restaurant is one of only a few Carluccio’s serving pizza. Each is hand-stretched using slow-proven dough to create a thin and crispy base, and is topped with the best Italian ingredients, including the finest buffalo mozzarella, 18-month aged Parma ham and ‘nduja – a spicy pork salumi.

Guests will find the aperitivo and espresso lounge bar is perfect for un caffé doppio, while the outdoor terrace pays homage to Italy’s love of taking coffee on the piazza – choose from two exclusive coffee blends – rich Napoli or smooth Milano to sip as you watch the world go by.

The deli features an ever-changing selection of dishes to go – ciabatta sandwiches, freshly made pasta and vibrant vegetable dishes, as well as indulgent pastries and cakes.

The shop is a food lover’s paradise with a range of products that taste as good as they look and make perfect gifts – pesto, pasta, porcini, prosecco and preserves sit alongside olive oils, balsamic vinegars, biscuits and chocolate, all made in Italy from suppliers known and loved by the Carluccio’s team.

Mark Jones, CEO Carluccio’s comments: “This is our third venture with Marriott and we have now proven that our all-day trading format is particularly suited to hotel operations where breakfast and impromptu dining are an integral part of the guest offer.”

Carluccio’s currently operates 103 restaurants in the UK and Ireland and 14 overseas.
