Devonshire Terrace

Devonshire Terrace, the latest opening from popular bar and restaurant operator Drake & Morgan, has opened in London.

Located near Liverpool Street Station, the venue welcomed its first customers in April. The all day-day food and drink destination has the capacity for 293 people and includes a glass-covered seating area outside and four private dining rooms.

On the food and drink side, Devonshire Terrace boasts a sumptuous new menu featuring an extended range of vegan and vegetarian options and irresistible botanical cocktails.

To carry out the design of this latest venue, Drake & Morgan once again enlisted the services of London-based design agency Fusion DNA. Fusion DNA has worked on multiple Drake & Morgan sites across the capital and has a strong of what the brand requires from its venues.

The undoubted standout features of Devonshire are the two outdoor spaces, a unique and valuable commodity in the heart of the capital. The main courtyard includes an upper terrace decorated with an abundance of plants and a lower lounge complete with sumptuous sofas and armchairs. Conversely, the rear terrace is ideally placed to make the most of the early morning sun and is the perfect spot to enjoy the revamped Drake & Morgan breakfast offering.

Internally, the restaurant and bar are flexible areas that can be used for multiple occasions with catering for small meetings up to large events. Patterned folding and sliding mirrored screens can be used to divide the space up and offer a new dimension to each space they create.

Bold geometric prints layered with textures, metallic and colours help create the distinct Drake & Morgan feel alongside the high quality furniture and finishing touches.

The venue’s kitchen, a buzzing hive of activity from day till night, has been elegantly framed with marble while the impressive bar has been decorated with an over-head brass display. Both features help balance the space and help create a flow from the bar to the restaurant.

The overall colour palette is a careful balance of feminine tones of dusty pinks, seafoam greens and teals, with more masculine tan and grey leathers with accents of stronger black and white patterns to offer contrast and interest to the scheme.

New for spring and summer 2018, Drake & Morgan has teamed up with chef, restauranteur and food writer Peter Gordon to create an inventive selection of salads. Inspired by Peter’s book ‘Savour: Salads for All Seasons’, the five salads showcase his flair for fusing interesting global ingredients and flavours to create delicious dishes.

Must tries include baby beetroot with broad beans, goat’s curd and hazelnuts; kohlrabi with watermelon, tofu, mangetout and candied walnuts; and roast cauliflower with seeds, olives, broad beans, peas and olive tapenade.

Also, on the menu is an exciting array of new vegetarian and vegan options sure to appeal to even the most committed of carnivores with must-tries including a flat mushroom burger with smoked vegan mozzarella, tomato and beetroot hummus; pearl barley risotto, watercress, asparagus and vegan pecorino; and avocado hummus on toasted gluten-free flat bread with dukkah and pomegranate

The cocktail list has also had an extensive, botanical makeover for spring with creations by Drake & Morgan mixologist Fabrizio Cioffi of Edinburgh’s The Refinery, in partnership with London Essence and Chris Edwards of cocktail consultancy ‘Salts of the Earth’. The list features classic and experimental cocktails characterised by the use of the herbs, spices, berries and vegetables found in an English country garden.

Open to the public 5 days a week, Monday to Friday, Devonshire Terrace is an everyday escape. To find out more, please visit www.drakeandmorgan.co.uk/devonshire-terrace.
