De Vere Wokefield Estate Appoints New Venue Director
Written by Amy

De Vere Wokefield Estate has announced the appointment of Peter Sangster as Venue Director, where he will be responsible for overseeing the final stages of the hotel’s £20 million refurbishment, as well as the day-to-day running of both the M&E and leisure business for the estate.

Peter joins De Vere Wokefield Estate from De Vere Cotswold Water Park.  With more than 20 years’ experience, including 18 months with De Vere, Sangster brings with him in-depth knowledge of the luxury hotel marketplace, with previous experience including General Manager roles at Hilton Aberdeen, Ardoe House Hotel & Spa and Thainstone House Hotel & Spa.

Following a top-to-toe refurbishment this July, Sangster’s appointment at De Vere Wokefield Estate comes at a pivotal time for the luxury mansion house estate, which has seen upgrades to its dedicated conference facilities which can accommodate up to 500 delegates, as well as a new, anticipated restaurant, 1560 Restaurant and Bar, which is set to open in coming months, and the refurbishment of many of its luxury bedrooms.

The newly furnished meeting and event rooms – including the Lincoln Suite, The Old Lounge, and the hotel’s largest space, the Maple Suite – incorporate original features and characteristics of the building while providing a contemporary and fresh feel and are kitted with all the mod-cons a meeting organiser might need. As part of the Group’s meetings initiative, the Smart Space concept has been installed across the conference facilities at De Vere Wokefield Estate; benefits include a dedicated conference host, on-hand technical support and nutritious menus designed by the Group’s nutritionist, Wendy Martinson OBE, to name a few.

The estate offers a range of teambuilding activities for meetings and conference bookings, in partnership with Grahame Robb which provide delegates a fun break from their conference and a chance to revitalise in the great outdoors. Activities include a 40ft climbing tower and a low ropes course, as well as woodland laser combat, archery and a range of indoor and outdoor problem-solving challenges.

Peter Sangster commented: “My previous work with De Vere has been nothing but rewarding, so to continue my journey at De Vere Wokefield Estate is very exciting. The renovation has created an incredible establishment that I am proud to be a part of. I am thrilled to be a part of the big changes happening here and look forward to what the future holds for the property.”
