Ander-Lift Makes Lineside Operations Safer and More Efficient on BASRE Project

Ander-Lift Makes Lineside Operations Safer and More Efficient on BASRE Project
Written by Amy

An innovative lifting mechanism from Anderton Concrete has helped contractors working on the Bristol Area Signalling Renewal & Enhancement (BASRE) project operate more efficiently and safely on site.

The BASRE project includes the upgrade of signalling in and around Bristol Temple Meads station, forming a crucial milestone in Network Rail’s Railway Upgrade Plan. Alstom Group, which has been delivering the scheme, deployed Ander-Lift – a specially designed lifting tool for troughs and lids – to improve the speed of installation of Anderton’s Concrete troughing and for the safety of its workers working line-side.

Leslie Williams, EHS Advisor at Alstom Group, commented: “Our installation and civils teams on the BASRE Project found that using the Ander-Lift was a great aide to the installation of Anderlite C/1/9’s. They found the lifters easy and comfortable to use, and going forward we will be recommending all installation teams have Ander-Lift available to use.”

Sharon Rice, Rail Manager at Anderton Concrete, commented: “Health and safety of contractors working on rail engineering projects is of paramount importance. Whilst improving installation times, most importantly Ander-Lift makes the handling of troughing products more efficient and safer, complying with BS 8020-2011 which is designed to protect operatives working within close proximity of live cables or conductor rails. It is great to hear how much of a difference it made to contractors working on the BASRE project.”

Anderton Concrete Products is the market leader in the supply of cable protection products to the UK rail industry. Its extensive rage includes drainage catchpits, signal bases, point rod rollers, ballast boards, posts and postmix. For more information visit www.andertonconcrete.co.uk.
