Jupiter Hotels, led by CEO Shane Harris and a team of 24 staff members, have raised £3,500 in a marathon 12 hour spin-a-thon for children’s charity Rays of Sunshine.

The recent spin-a-thon took place at Jupiter Hotels Head Office reception, based in High Wycombe, from 7am – 7pm. Staff were cheered on by representatives of Rays of Sunshine as they took relay turns to pedal all day on two static exercise bikes, kindly lent to them by Bucks Gateway Gym. The generous effort comes as Jupiter Hotels, who manage a portfolio of x27 Mercure and x2 Holiday Inn hotels across the UK, have officially partnered with Rays of Sunshine, a charity which brightens the lives of seriously ill children and their families across the UK, and have pledged to raise £50,000+ across the group for the charity in the first year of partnership.

Jupiter Hotels CEO Shane Harris commented on the experience, “The 12-hour spin-a-thon has been a fantastic way for the team to come together and do something challenging yet rewarding to raise money for Rays of Sunshine who work tirelessly to better the lives of poorly children and their families. Our General Managers across the hotels have already made a fantastic start to our fundraising initiative by climbing mountains and jumping out of planes for donations, so it was important for our team to show solidarity and get up and get moving to raise money too. I’m very proud of all involved and grateful to the many who have supported and donated to this great cause so far, I’m already looking forward to the next challenge.”

Commenting on Jupiter Hotels 12 hour spin-a-thon, Jane Sharpe, CEO for Rays of Sunshine said, “Rays of Sunshine is honoured and delighted that the Jupiter Hotels team have put aside great time and effort to cycle for 12 hours straight and in doing so have raised such a fantastic amount for us. It is only with the support of our valued partners, such as Jupiter Hotels and all the individuals involved, that we can continue to brighten the lives of brave and deserving children and their families and create precious memories.”

Rays of Sunshine is a national children’s charity, which brightens the lives of seriously ill children (aged three – 18) and their families across the UK by granting wishes and providing on-going support in hospitals and within the community. Their work creates a positive distraction, reduces isolation, improves self-esteem and creates precious memories and smiles. Raysofsunshine.org.uk
