This Month in Premier Construction 26.4

Welcome to the latest edition of Premier Construction.

In this month’s issue we take a look at Llwyn Celyn; we check out The Heart in Ikast; and we explore Honeybourne Place.

A multi-million pound restoration project led by the Landmark Trust to meticulously restore a Grade I-listed house in the Black Mountains in Wales has been completed. Llwyn Celyn was built in 1420-21 and had remained largely unaltered since around 1690. The rare building was rescued from dereliction at a cost of £4.2million by Landmark’s team using traditional craft skills, including carpentry, joinery, and masonry.

Llwyn Celyn becomes the 200th historically significant building to be saved and sensitively transformed for self-catering holidays by the charity. Located in the Llanthony Valley on the edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park, Llwyn Celyn is regarded as one of the most remarkable of all surviving late-medieval houses in Wales.

The Heart in Ikast is a new meeting point centred on culture and communication. The Heart combines education, activities, community, exercise and recreational pursuits in new ways in a purpose built site, made up of several halls, multi-functional and educational facilities, alongside an activity park.

C.F Møller Architects were behind the project which is located next to the neighbouring Business College, HXH Ikast, Ikast Brande upper secondary school, the teacher training college and the International School Ikast-Brande, which was also designed by C.F Møller.

Cheltenham’s new £12m landmark office building, Honeybourne Place, is continuing to make rapid progress as it heads towards a 2019 completion date.

Overseen by developer Formal Investments and contractor Barnwood Construction, Honeybourne Place will provide more than 64,000 sq ft of prime grade A office space in a superb Business Quarter location with excellent transport links. Previously a private car park, the six storey building has been designed by local architects Roberts Limbrick.

With all this and more, join us as we explore the impressive construction projects that continue to shape our landscape. Go well!
