The Senior Site Manager, who has been with Bellway Homes for thirteen years, said “it’s always a pleasure to participate”. He has managed twelve Pride In The Job award-winning sites, but emphasised that success was dependent on more than just himself: “Competition is always tough,” he told us, “things change and it requires everybody to push themselves. It takes dedication and commitment from all the team.”
Ray has worked with many of his current site team before, most for at least the past three years and some for as long as ten. Their experience together means that they all know exactly what they want to achieve from the beginning. The team are hoping to be able to celebrate this year’s award with a site party later this year.
Ray Dargue started out in the industry as an apprentice bricklayer at the age of fifteen, before being promoted to Trades Foreman, Assistant and then Senior Site Manager with Bellway Homes. Previously he worked for Barratt Homes.
Wheatridge Park is situated in the small, friendly village of Seaton Delaval. The development is surrounded by the very best that the North East has to offer: it is within easy distance of Newcastle and its famous Metro shopping centre and close to historic attractions such as Whitley Bay and Seaton Delaval Hall.
The development features an extensive range of housing styles, from two-bedroom apartments to five-bedroom detached family homes. Spacious designs in a wide variety of sizes and layouts offer family-living to suit all on a site surrounded by trees. In addition, the site incorporates several communal green spaces on top of the individual gardens included in all plots. The outstanding care that has been taken in building each home, combined with the highly desirable area, is sure to attract many prospective buyers.
Bellway Homes also offer many additional services to ensure that homes are true value for money. These offers range from bespoke interior fittings to discounts for members of the armed forces and emergency services.
It is currently a busy time on the site with it being the company’s year end. Wheatridge Park has been under construction for two and a half years. Subject to sales the building work could continue to run for another couple of years with a new phase extending the current site, and comprising the same types of housing as have already been built on the site.
