This month we are bursting at the seams with our round-up of restaurant and bar projects which continue to give us food for thought. In this month’s issue we serve up a cocktail or two with Le Coq, Paris; we take a look at the work currently being undertaken for GBK; and we try out traditional street food at Barrio East.
Le Coq, Paris is a brand new cocktail bar from acclaimed bartender, mixologist and Drink Factory founder, Tony Conigliaro. The site opened on the 10th November 2012 at 12 Rue Chateau d’Eau and combines 1970s glamour with an imaginative drinks menu. Le Coq, Paris is a joint venture with leading drinks experts Eric Fossard and Thierry Daniel and provides customers with a vast array of beverages, some great music and a very memorable setting. Meanwhile, GBK is currently implementing a scheme to refresh its existing sites through a programme of refurbishments.
Three design practices have been appointed to rework GBK sites across the UK, with design led architectural practice Moreno Masey being one such company. Commenting on his involvement with GBK’s grand refurbishment scheme, Moreno Masey Company Director, Rodrigo Moreno Masey, said:
“Our involvement with GBK is very important to us and it is very flattering to be given such a high level of trust with our design work. “We are a young practice, who is looking to push the design envelope in a bold new way and this is something which fits in perfectly with what GBK plan for this refurbishment scheme.”
And finally, located on Shoreditch High Street, London, Barrio East is the latest site to open under the Latin Americanthemed Barrio name. The site opened its doors for the first time in November 2012 and joins two other Londonbased Barrio sites, Barrio North in Islington, and Barrio Central in Soho. Similar to its sister sites, Barrio East is a cantina, cocktail bar and club, which combines imaginative cocktails, a tempting array of traditional street food and an electric atmosphere to create the ultimate Latin experience..
