The Paddocks is a brand new housing development currently taking shape in Desford, Leicester. The stunning housing site has been under construction since May 2013 and is currently on schedule to reach completion in 2016.

The Bellway Homes-constructed development comprises 135 houses, which includes a mix of two, three, four and five-bedroom houses. Despite the sheer number of properties on the development the project has not been divided into phases, instead Bellway is tackling the development in one.

The two-storey and three-storey houses on The Paddocks are being built from traditional methods of construction, so utilise brick and block, along with concrete tiled roofs and uPVC windows. Each property includes front and back gardens, whilst a number of houses include garages. A public open space completes the development.

Before work could start on the project, the site team had to complete a major diversion of overhead cables, as well as construct a brand new substation. However once this challenge was out of the way, work continued to make great progress on the site, something which is demonstrated by the development’s recent achievement with the NHBC – a Pride in the Job 2014 Award.

Premier Construction recently caught up with Bellway Homes Site Manager, Steve Alcock, to find out what it means to win an NHBC Pride in the Job Award 2014 for his work on the development. The award marks the second time Steve has picked up an NHBC award, following a win in 2009 for a different development.

Steve said:

“Winning another NHBC Pride in the Job Award is extremely important to me. It is also great recognition of all the team work that takes place on a site. We have built up a really good team on this particular development – a team with a fantastic working ethic – and this award demonstrates how well we all work together.”

The Paddock features a variety of different house types, including The Worcester; The Willersley; The Lowesby; The Smithy; The Twyford; The Spinney; The Laughton; The Bosworth; and The Cadeby. Each home offers style and comfort, with internal fixtures and fittings being completed to an exceptional standard.

The development itself is perfectly situated just a two minute drive from Desford Village and is surrounded by open fields. The development is close to many local amenities, including a post office, library and medical centre, as well as shops and restaurants.

For families, Bosworth Academy is located close to The Paddocks, which provides education for pupils aged 11 to 18, as well as a number of playgroups, pre-schools and a primary school. Meanwhile the popular Mallory Park, The Water Trust’s 50-acre site, and Forest Hill Golf and Country Club provide the perfect retreat for those wanting to take part in physical activities.

The Paddocks is just a ten minute drive from the M1 and just 19 miles from East Midlands Airport. For more information about The Paddocks or to view similar properties within the Bellway Homes portfolio, please visit: www.bellway.co.uk.
