Founded in 1989 by John Lynch and business partner George Barton, Northumbrian Roads specialise in the delivery of new build and resurfacing works.

The company works on contracts ranging from small schemes to large projects and count the Highways Agency amongst its list of clients.

Northumbrian Roads workforce is fully qualified to meet NVQ standards, with surfacing works accredited to meet the National Highway Sector Scheme 16. Services include, planning, groundworks, surfacing, haulage and the installation of blacktop materials.

The company currently operates long term maintenance contracts with both Sunderland City Council and South Tyneside Council. In addition, Northumbrian Roads has long standing working relationships with Barratt Homes, Gentoo, Tesco and Holiday Inn Hotels.

More recently, Northumbrian Roads were pleased to announce they had won the latest Priority Schools contract with Sir Robert McAlpine. The contract will involve surfacing works for roads, footpaths and playgrounds for schools including Ian Ramsey School, Hilltop School, King James Academy School and Durham Trinity School, amongst others.
