An exceptional development which will comprise just 14 exclusive new homes occupying an enviable, elevated rural position on the outskirts of Silsden, Yorkshire, Wayside Mews will comprise seven pairs of semi detached houses.
The project started on site approximately 18 months ago, and six properties have been completed so far.
Being constructed to exacting standards by highly regarded local builders Croft Building Limited, the properties will include three, four and five bedroom homes built from natural reclaimed stone and slate, with the four and five bedroom houses incorporating two and a half storeys.
John Crompton of Laroc Architects, who designed the development, told Premier Construction:
“Because the site is sloping, we designed all the properties as split level homes. The development is the second phase of a seven-home scheme constructed by Croft Building 10 years ago, and is designed primarily as family housing, with each home having a detached garage and front and rear garden.”
Due to strict limits imposed by the local water authority regarding surface water run-off from the previously greenfield site, a large amount of storm water attenuation was required for the development he said.
“I have worked with Croft Building for over 20 years and know that they build extremely high quality housing geared to what the local community needs, The standard of building and the quality of the internal fixtures and fittings is so high, that as soon as the homes go on the market they are sold. Croft Building also tends to use local tradesmen and suppliers on all their developments, therefore supporting the local community,” he added.
Located adjacent to local playing fields and open countryside, the site has a delightful southerly aspect across Airedale and is situated between the thriving towns of Ilkley and Skipton, close to the stunning scenery of the Dales National Park.
Each property will be constructed in reclaimed Yorkshire stone, with window and door openings in new, sawn stone. Windows and door frames will be in sustainable, painted softwood, incorporating high specification, double glazed units. Roofs will be finished in reclaimed Welsh slate.
Inside, the properties will provide all the modern comforts expected of a Croft new home, including a choice of kitchen units and styles. Bathrooms will incorporate high quality, contemporary white suites with bath, shower cubicle (including a ‘Grohe’ thermostatic shower), wash basin and toilet.
In addition, all of the properties will feature a downstairs cloakroom with toilet and wash basin.
Each new home will have an efficient gas fired heating system powered by a condensing combination boiler. A security system is also installed in each property.
All homes will have the benefit of a 10 year NHBC Buildmark Warranty.
