The Hilton The Ageas Bowl

Boasting stunning architecture and stylish design, the new Hilton at The Ageas Bowl is incorporated into The Ageas Bowl Cricket Stadium, home of Hampshire County Cricket and promises a real ‘resort’ experience when it opens its doors in Eastleigh, Southampton later this year.

The four-star hotel will have spectacular views overlooking the famous cricket ground, as well as a spa, high-end restaurant, banqueting facilities for up to 700 people in the Ageas Ballroom, and a new 18-hole golf course opening in 2016.

All 171 bedrooms will have either a view of the pitch or the planned golf course. Standard bedrooms will include a spacious desk, a 40-inch TV, luxurious bedding and complimentary WiFi. Family rooms, executive rooms and suites are also available.

For those who prefer relaxation to sport, the new spa will offer a range of luxury overnight packages, pamper days and treatments.

In addition, Hilton at The Ageas Bowl will feature a 120 seater restaurant with exquisite food and cocktails available to diners. A sports bar and lounge will also be available, where guests can watch Sky Sports while enjoying a meal or drinks.

As well as some fantastic leisure facilities, the new hotel is set to offer one of the largest and most versatile corporate and banqueting spaces in the region – perfect for everything from small meetings or private functions to large exhibitions and weddings.

The project to complete the new hotel is being carried out by Powells Group Ltd, who took over the scheme when the previous contractor (Denizen) went into administration.

Gordon Wells, Chairman of Powells Group, said:

“As a Hampshire based company, we were delighted to have been awarded the contract to complete the Hilton Hotel at the Ageas Bowl, Southampton and aimed to continue to use local tradesmen and businesses wherever possible.

“Our forte is the production of high quality commercial interiors, including hotels, retail premises, showrooms, restaurants and offices. Our additional experience of heavy construction work puts us in a perfect position to complete this project on time, on budget and to the highest possible standards as evidenced by our enviable client list including the likes of Louis Vuitton, Prada, Burberry and many other world renowned high profile companies.”

The design of the hotel and spa is the final element of a larger project for EPR Architects, who worked with the Ageas Bowl to masterplan the completion of the 15,000-seater cricket stadium, golf course, stands and spectator facilities.

According to EPR Architects, the hotel:

“Completes the holistic and cohesive design of the cricket ground, and brings a luxury hotel with high quality business, leisure and hospitality facilities to this world-class sporting destination.

“The hotel building sits opposite the pavilion, centred on the axis of the bowler’s arm, with a form that reflects the footprint of the stands and pavilion, rather like two opposing teams.”

Hotel management company, Interstate Hotels and Resorts, will operate the hotel when it opens. The global company currently has 50 hotels in the UK under franchise agreements with companies including Hilton Worldwide, InterContinental Hotels Group, Accor, Wyndham and Best Western.
