Situated on Devonshire Road in Chiswick, The Italian Job is an Italian craft beer gastro pub serving up a fantastic selection of drinks, alongside a delicious Italian-influenced array of food.
Housed within a site that formerly operated as Pickwick’s wine bar, The Italian Job boasts a stunning, yet inviting interior which is big on hospitality and comfort.
The Italian Job – the UK’s first Italian craft beer pub – opened its doors to punters on 13th February 2015 via a two-day celebratory unveiling. During the event all draught beers were sold at special discount prices and complimentary food was available to give guests a taste of what will become true highlights of the menu.
Speaking to Premier Hospitality, Co-Manager and Marketing & Social Media Manager of The Italian Job, Giacomo Pelizza, said:
“This is an exciting new venture which has been created through a new partnership formed through Giovanni Campari and Manuel Piccoli of Italian brewery Birrificio del Ducato, London-based partner and food & beverage entrepreneur Giuseppe Verdoni and entrepreneur Marco Pucciotti, who owns a number of speciality beer pubs in Rome.
“The Italian Job presents a collection of rotating beers, boasting a range of imported Italian micro pub beers, alongside a selection of draught beers. Meanwhile, the pub’s food offering includes a range of classic dishes with an Italian twist, as well as a selection of Italian specialities such as Parma ham.”
Work began on creating The Italian Job in September 2014, with Elisa Pardini and Robert Hall of Elips Design overseeing the design work. Elips Design has worked on a range of projects from hospitality schemes to residential and education works, so were the ideal choice for creating an interior design which brings the building’s character to the forefront.
Elips Design worked from a brief which looked for a functional design, which was free from the usual clichés associated with an Italian venue. The result is a design which combines elegance and sophistication, taking influence from the history of Italian craft beers whilst moving it in a contemporary direction.
The exterior of the building includes a double set of windows as well as an awning which sets out the Italian feel and vibe of the venue for guests. This exterior design-style is then reflected throughout the venue, from the menus through to wall decorations, tables and chairs.
Materials used in the venue include ceramics, reclaimed pine and copper. Meanwhile, furniture in The Italian Job includes a mix of mismatched chairs to provide a cosy, yet stylish interior, which are perfectly placed around the main room so that guests have the right amount of space to enjoy the surroundings.
Commenting on the design highlights, Giacomo, said:
“Upon entry, guests are greeted by our large copper-topped bar which features our 12 draught beers, whilst the floor is wooden and the walls showcase exposed brickwork. We also have an area which features a geometric tiled pattern.”
The Italian Job is open Monday and Tuesday 5pm until 11pm; Wednesday and Thursday 12pm until 11pm; Friday and Saturday 12pm until 11.30pm; Sunday 11am until 11pm and is already a hit with guests.
