Already generating highly positive feedback from delighted guests is a luxurious new 20-bedroom wing, recently constructed at the Auchrannie Resort on the Isle of Arran.

The resort incorporates two hotels, three restaurants, 30 5 star lodges, a spa, two leisure centres, a children’s Playbarn and an outdoor adventure centre.

The three-storey extension, which contains 18 executive bedrooms and two suites, also boasts ancillary accommodation including a family resource utility room on each floor, complete with washing and drying facilities and a microwave, designed to make life easier for those travelling with very young children.

Each floor also contains a guest lounge with an outdoor terrace with seating, providing guests with an alternative to sitting in the bar, restaurant or in their rooms.

The two suites are located on the top floor, which also incorporates the resort’s Stromarch Lounge where complimentary tea, coffee and soft drinks are available throughout the day. In addition to a seating area, the Stromarch Lounge outdoor terrace also features a hot tub with stunning views of nearby Glen Cloy.

The two 51 sq m suites contain all the features of the executive rooms, but are further enhanced with a separate lounge and private balcony. The lounge area is complete with a ‘chill out pod’ – a circular pod inset into the wall where people can recline and relax.

“All the finishes are very luxurious. We have also added a bunk room with a TV at each bunk in both the executive rooms and suites to provide separate accommodation for children – creating enhanced levels of privacy and comfort for families,” said Gordon Hay, Business Development Manager at the resort.

He added: “The new bedrooms and suites are quite different in style from other accommodation at Auchrannie and offer opulent, contemporary interiors with an atmospheric feel and a quirky connection to the natural environment.

“Executive rooms are an impressive 34sqm and come equipped with facilities to appeal to families, couples and individual travellers.

“Guests can look forward to large picture windows, bespoke wall coverings, ambient lighting and sumptuous furnishings throughout.”

All the rooms have luxury bathrooms, spacious enough to include a separate shower and bath.

The extension is a steel framed modular build system which was transported to the site in over 60 pieces. Each room came as a single unit complete with high quality finishes

External elevations are in render, incorporating large aluminium framed windows, with patio windows opening onto a terrace on the ground floor, and the building has a pitched tiled roof.

Speaking of the decision to build the new extension Gordon Hay said: “The resort started as a 12 bedroom guest house 27 years ago and has seen particularly rapid expansion over the last five years. Much of what we do is based on the results of feedback from our guests, which indicated that they were looking for an enhanced standard of accommodation and this was particularly applicable to those who were travelling with children.

“Also the island is becoming increasingly popular with more and more people visiting every year – and with this in mind, plus the addition of new facilities at the resort, the extension was needed both to cater for the increasing number of guests and also to meet increased customer requirements.

“Guests have said that they are very impressed with the new wing and we are very pleased with the positive feedback we have had so far.”

Richard Small, General Manager at the resort, said: “We hope that the look, feel and style of these rooms will appeal to both our existing customer base as well as attracting new customers to Auchrannie.”

Linda Johnston, Executive Director commented: “Expansion of our room stock will help the resort to achieve sustainability, putting more guests on site to use the extensive facilities we have invested in over the last few years.”
