Scooping his third Pride in the Job Quality award – this time for his site at Berkley Homes’ prestigious Fiennes Park development at Littlewick Green, Maidenhead – is proud project manager David Tolmie.
“Winning the award was a team effort and is good for everyone concerned – after all you are only as good as the team around you. My assistant Steve Moody also deserves credit – I couldn’t have won the award without him. The whole team is pleased – and it looks good on everyone’s CVs too,” said David.
In addition to having a good team, David puts the secret of his success down to running a clean and tidy site, being well organised, keeping a close eye on quality and choosing good sub-contractors. “We have good sub contractors on this development and that makes life a lot easier,” he said.
David, who says he had been in the construction industry “for more years than I would like to remember,” won his first Pride in the Job Quality award when he worked for David Wilson Homes, and the second during his time at Banner Homes.
He started out with his own carpentry company before progressing to become a site manager, senior site manager and now project manager.
Currently, just over half of the construction work at Fiennes Park has been completed, and 17 properties have already been sold in advance of completion.
Located in one of the most affluent parts of the south east, close to the riverside towns of Marlow, Windsor, Henley and Eton, Fiennes Park offers the most discerning buyers the rare opportunity to enjoy a life of opulent elegance.
Situated within a gated estate and surrounded by cultivated woodland and formal gardens, Fiennes Park is a truly exclusive neighbourhood.
The development includes an impressive collection of 25 luxurious detached properties, including 24 four and five bedroom residences, and a former gate lodge which is being sympathetically refurbished and extended to form a two bedroom property of character. All the homes at Fiennes Park will feature private gardens, and boast an exceptional specification throughout, combining style, comfort and quality.
All the homes are two storeys high and include attached or detached double garages. The use of traditional design elements combined with natural products such as slate and clay roof tiles, help to establish the homes within the wider mature environment.
Features such as stonework window cills and heads, as well as the stone portico entrances add to this timeless quality. Feature quoins, quality brickwork and stone columns give a true sense of craftsmanship, whilst the flush entrances with no steps ensure easy access. The amount of green space and landscaping between the properties enhances the sense of living on a private estate
On entering the homes at Fiennes Park, the immediate impression is one of light and space; the quality fixtures and fittings projecting an enviable lifestyle. This sense of luxury is further enhanced by a spacious entrance hall, galleried landing and magnificent staircase, featuring oak accents.
Quality comes as standard with ornate cornices, architraves and deep moulded skirtings, as well as an elegant tile finish that completes the hallway, kitchen, breakfast and family room.
An impressive yet inviting drawing room features a fireplace with a honed limestone hearth and surround, and also offers direct access to the garden through double French doors that allow for an extension of the living space in the summer months.
There is also a separate, more formal dining room, which is perfect for family suppers, ‘Sunday Best’ or more elegant social occasions.
Close attention has also been paid to the design, layout and functionality of the kitchen, dining and family areas. This flexible entertaining space is further enhanced by double doors that lead onto an attractive terrace and private garden.
Today’s sophisticated homebuyers demand bedrooms and bathrooms that meet quality hotel standards, and in this respect, Fiennes Park exceeds all expectations.
The bedrooms are spacious, luxurious and exquisitely detailed. The en-suite to the master bedroom includes a walk-in shower, his and hers basins and a comfortable bath. This creates the perfect sanctuary, while the family bathroom is practical and well-designed, with stylish vanity units providing ample storage.
