A new housing development in the Knowsley Borough of Merseyside is giving local residents the chance to step onto the housing ladder for the first time, as new properties become available on the Arncliffe Road, Halewood site ‘The Woodlands’.

The 39 unit development is due to be completed in the Spring of 2016 and contains a mix of rented, shared ownership and properties for outright sale. Oriel Homes and Knowsley Housing Trust are part of the First Ark Group and Oriel will be selling the properties with prices starting from £114,950.

Work has been undertaken by Knowsley Housing Trust and Seddon Construction Ltd who joined together in a joint venture partnership for the first time. The scheme was supported by Knowsley Council and the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA), with grant allocation being awarded to the scheme after a successful bid to the HCA.
Katie Lenden, Project Manager at Knowsley Housing Trust said: “We have a beautiful show home on the development which is now open to the public. Reservations have been taken utilising the many purchase options and the interest in the development has been remarkable.”

The build started in March 2015 and includes a mixture of two and three bedroom homes, with off road parking. Situated in the heart of 28 acres of woodland and close to motorway connections to Liverpool and Manchester, the area is close to an abundance of local amenities, schools, retail parks and Liverpool airport is a 10 minute drive away.

Katie added: “The properties are spacious, modern and ideal for first time buyers. The design represents comfortable living with beautiful kitchens and bathrooms. It can be difficult to get onto the property ladder and with the Help to Buy scheme being available, it helps people take the first big step into owning their own home.”

The development is located on a previous green field site and provides affordable homes for the people of the borough.

“During consultation, local residents were extremely supportive of the development and welcomed the change in streetscape. ” said Katie.

Katie commented: “Working in partnership with Seddon has really paid off, not only in providing high quality homes, but through employing local people on site, sourcing local materials and providing training opportunities for local youngsters, the build helped locals feel part of the development.”

Knowsley Housing Trust plan to continue working with Seddon on future projects in Knowsley, offering a variety of homes for sale. For more information, visit
