Haddington Place – Edinburgh’s newest student accommodation
The show apartment is now open to view at Edinburgh’s most eagerly anticipated new student accommodation scheme, which is ideal for students looking for a contemporary home close to the city centre.
Opening in September 2016, Haddington Place is a brand new development that will accommodate 240 students in furnished rooms that offer en-suite facilities. The development on Leith Walk will offer a range of studio apartments with self-contained kitchen and dining areas, as well as four, five and six bedroom cluster apartments and penthouses that benefit from shared kitchens.
The development is perfectly located to connect students to everything Edinburgh has to offer; the city centre is a quick eight minute walk away, whilst the University of Edinburgh’s main campus is less than a twenty minute walk from Haddington Place. There are excellent bus services on the doorstep connecting people to many parts of Edinburgh and the University. Waverley Station is a 12 minute walk from the accommodation and cycling to the city centre and to the universities is a popular choice as Edinburgh is surprisingly compact and has a great cycle network including traffic free cycle routes.
Haddington Place ensures that students have everything that they need on site. This includes a brand new state-of-the-art gym which students will have free access too, multiple common rooms – for studying and socialising including a Cinema lounge for ultimate down time, laundry facilities, cycle storage for 161 bicycles and an on-site management team will be on hand to help students settle into their new home.
Prices at Haddington Place start from £135 per week including high speed WiFi and all utility bills.
Work started on the £23 million, five storey building in March 2016. Property development company S Harrison are responsible for the project’s development with Ogilivie Construction acting as the main contractors on the project. The development has been financed and will be managed by M&G Real Estate, one of the UK’s largest property investors.
David Clancy from S Harrison said: “The show apartment is designed to offer a real feel for the quality and specification on offer at Haddington Place. The whole development is being finished to an exceptional standard that surpasses everything else in the area, and it will offer superb facilities.
“It is also in a great location surrounded by shops, cafes, restaurants and transport links as well as being close to the vibrant Broughton Street area. Plus, it’s just a five minute walk from the city centre and a mile from the University of Edinburgh’s main campus adding to its appeal. As a result of its position, homes on the upper levels offer superb views over the city and across to the Firth of Forth.”
The 0.5 acre site was formerly part of Edinburgh’s original Botanic Gardens and until recently housed the Botanic Cottage, which is being reconstructed over the coming months at the Royal Botanic Gardens.
