Continuing to expand on the variety of the work Design Coalition, Roy added:
“We were introduced to Bilderberg Hotels in the Netherlands for Westmont. We were commissioned to help the Dutch hotel group to compete with international brands, resulting in a year long relationship as design consultants completing hotel refurbishments in Rotterdam and Amsterdam, plus restaurants for Dutch Michelin Chefs Erik van Loo and in Amsterdam “De Kersentuin” for Stefan van Srang. More recent European work saw us working with AC Hotels from Madrid and the successful introduction of the first two AC Hotels by Marriott in the UK for owners Valor Hospitality Europe at the Mailbox Birmingham and Salford Quays.
“We have also been fortunate to enjoy working with many London hotels for GLH former Thistle and Guoman Hotels. Completing what was a rolling programme of development across London which also saw us involved in the Far East with procurement from Shanghai and Malaysia and completing hotel transformations in Kensington Gardens, Euston, Trafalgar, Piccadilly and more recently a minimalist conversion of the public spaces at Marble Arch Amba Hotel.”
Tony Booth added: “In recent years we have worked in collaboration with Big Easy Restaurants to deliver their flagship ‘Big Easy BBQ and crab shack restaurant in the new Crossrail terminal at Canary Wharf and also act as designers for the first two super casinos in the UK, both with Aspers Casinos, one being at Westfield Stratford City and occupying 65,000sqft of floor space including gaming, restaurants and 3 bar areas.
“Working for many years with one of the UK’s largest operators for restaurant, pubs and bars, Mitchells and Butlers, they have acted as lead designer for All Bar One, Miller and Carter and Harvester Restaurants. Our role is to work closely with construction, marketing and operational teams. For Miller and Carter we were asked to join part of a small core team sourcing inspiration from both the US and UK to develop a new quality steakhouse concept for the group. Miller and Carter now operate over 60 restaurants nationwide.
“In addition we also act as lead designer in the UK for All Bar One, being appointed following a successful design competition, the last year has seen us design and project manage several new acquisition sites including airport and railway hubs. We also have a long relationship with Harvester restaurants which have over 230 sites in the UK and over a period of time we have overseen new evolutions for the brand and delivered many new sites based on a family friendly approach and environment.”
