Lady Wallace Square
With a distinct and unique charm, Lady Wallace Square is a major development of 75 homes currently heading into its final phase of construction. Located in Lisburn, Northern Ireland, Lady Wallace Square includes a range of dwelling types from three-bedroom detached and semi-detached houses to townhouses.
Blending rural charm with excellent transport links and accessibility, the development has been recognised with a NHBC Pride in the Job Award for site manager Donald Doyle. He spoke to Premier Construction about the project:
“It’s a relatively traditional build development, there’s nothing too unusual. It’s a growing area and like anywhere in Northern Ireland it’s a place to commute to Belfast from.
“I’ve been on site for about two years now but the company has been here for almost ten years, building over 300 new homes. This is the latest of many phases and we’re one of about four different contractors who are currently working in this area. We have a good reputation in the area and this is reflected in the quick uptake of our homes. When we released the last twelve homes at Easter they sold in a matter of weeks.”
All homes come complete with an exceptionally high turnkey finish and specification. A great deal of attention has been paid to internal layouts to match the desires of modern living. The kitchens feature high quality units and worktop finishes with integrated appliances including an oven, gas hob, extractor hood, fridge freezer, dishwasher and washer/drier. Bathrooms and ensuites boast contemporary white sanitary ware with chrome fittings and high quality tiling.
Externally, windows are double glazed in uPVC frames and all homes come with tarmac driveways, landscaped gardens, timber fencing to the rear and feature external lighting. Reflecting on the challenges of the project and the recent award win, Donald added:
“I think the biggest challenge we’ve faced is the speed of planning. Utilities like phones and broadband can also be a challenge but generally you can work through that.
“We actually won the award last year as well so it’s been a very successful project from that point of view. I’ve got a foreman, site engineer and a couple of trades foremen and it’s also reflection on them and the work they do. The old saying that if you get the quality right, everything else looks after itself is true for our work. These houses are really well put together and that’s why they sell.
“We’re losing tradesmen in this industry but we’ve managed to hold onto quality workers and the award is a reflection on their hard work. It gives everyone a boost as we continue with the final phase.”
Lisburn is the third largest city in Northern Ireland and boast an array of shops, restaurants, bars entertainment and nightlife venues. It is home to eight golf courses, three equestrian centres and excellent fishing facilities. Lisburn also has excellent transport links and is only 9 miles from Belfast city centre.
