Jigsaw, St James’s Emporium

Located in the landmark St James’s Market development in Piccadilly, London is Jigsaw’s new flagship store. Building on from the award-winning Duke Street Emporium concept from 2014, the new site is the British fashion brands most luxurious statement to date.

Opened in December 2016 and completed by Dalziel & Pow and Garenne Shopfitting, the store has been given a premium treatment in its iconic Piccadilly position.

Garenne Shopfitting was established in 1999 and has a strong reputation for quality, service and attention to detail, which is why many of their clients go back to them time and time again. As a fit out company they aim to differentiate themselves not just by the day to day operation on site, but also through customer relationships, understanding what is required and investment in people and technology to be able to offer their clients the best service they can. From their humble beginnings the business has grown consistently and they now enjoy working with many well-known brands such as Hugo Boss, Dune, Tommy Hilfiger, Kurt Geiger and Jigsaw.

The tone at the new Jigsaw store is set with a gleaming bronze-clad facia and a new Jigsaw St James’s identity. The store offers Jigsaw’s full range of men’s and women’s clothing, footwear and accessories across 300sqm, in addition to a 100sqm shop-in-shop for sister brand The Shop at Bluebird. The two spaces are then set apart with contrasting aesthetics, yet framed and connected.

A large glass-wrapped cash desk accentuates the terrazzo within, complemented by a grand iridescent backdrop that connects the two floors. Large fitting rooms are finished with two-tone metallic surfaces and a large-scale mirrored wall to create a boutique feel, and a dedicated press room in the basement will become a go-to destination for Jigsaw fashion shows, media launches and collection previews.

Jigsaw has long been associated with eclectic style and championing up-and-coming creatives. The work undertaken by Dalziel & Pow has spanned interior design, identity design, print collateral, environmental graphics, signage and sourcing artists. Dalziel & Pow are a leading independent agency based in London, creating engaging brands all around the world. They define brands and total retail experience – engaging customers in today’s changing retail landscape. Over the past three decades, they have become one of the world’s most insightful and creative agencies – helping each of their clients to create a more imaginative future for their brands.

Jigsaw opened its first shops in Hampstead and Brighton in 1972 and has grown to more than fifty stores across the UK and America. Their designs are timeless, independent-minded and fun. They prefer not to slavishly follow fashion trends and instead, cherish the opportunity to make something beautiful, meaningful and lasting that you can wear for years.

Jigsaw joins leading lifestyle brands Smeg and Assos in St James’s Market, a £400 million joint venture between The Crown Estate and Oxford Properties to create a new world-class retail, business and leisure destination in the heart of this historic part of London’s West End.

The project has recently been shortlisted for two Retail Week Interiors Awards and has been shortlisted in the category of SFD’s Best Fashion Retail Interior and Best High Street Store. The Retail Week Interiors Awards enables the industry to stop and think of what innovation is being developed across sectors, countries and practices. It is the perfect message for workforces who are going in the right direction.

The winners of this year’s Retail Week Interiors Awards will be announced on 2 November 2017.
