The Lounges, the West Country based café/bar group has opened a brand-new site in Wokingham. Opened on Wednesday 11 October 2017, Sedero Lounge opened in Baileys House on Central Walk and created 25 jobs for local people.
The Lounges Group was founded in 2002 by a trio of long standing friends, Dave Reid, Alex Reilley and Jake Bishop. Having spent years in the restaurant and bar trade they decided it was time that they did their own thing. An empty opticians on North Street, Bristol fit the bill for what they guys wanted. The shell of a site included a kitchen so they accepted that they would be doing a bit of food and after a few months of figuring out what they want to do, Lounge opened on Tuesday 29th August 2002.
The Sedro Lounge, Wokingham is described as a ‘home from home’ offering delicious food and drinks, all day, on your doorstep. The Lounges sites exist to bring people together and their unique atmosphere changes hour by hour with each new wave of customers.
The Lounges spent £555,000 transforming the site into a family-friendly retro-inspired cosy retreat, where eclectic art work and quirky curios sit next to oversized vintage sofas and old school benches, strikingly painted table tops and statement lighting, in the eclectic style much loved by Lounge aficionados.
Particular attention has been paid to families – there is a fine selection of games and books, colouring pencils and pads, a full menu just for Little Loungers and high chairs and baby-change facilities are available for the tiny ones.
Adam Whittard, Operations Manager at The Lounges, said: “We’re really looking forward to showing the locals how to lounge in style. The team are looking forward to becoming part of the community and will support local groups and initiatives wherever possible.”
A community notice board is available for those wanting to publicise events and a book swap area is kept well stocked. The team will also be holding regular fundraising events as part of their commitment to making a difference in the community. With this in mind, the team have chosen to support local charity Thames Hospice. Sedero Lounge will donate 50p from every burger and 10p from every coffee sold from their first month of trading to the charity.
Sedero Lounge caters for all tastes throughout the day. Whether you’re looking for the best coffee in town, a business lunch with colleagues or a lazy all-day brunch, Sedero Lounge is the perfect place to relax and unwind. The all-day menu features everything from their famous, authentic tapas and Hero Burger to Tin Pan Louie’s beef chilli, packed wraps and the best mac and cheese you’ve ever tasted…or there’s the ever-changing specials board. Little people, vegans and those favouring a gluten-free diet are also well catered for with their very own menus.
The Sedero Lounge is open Sunday to Wednesday from 9am until 11pm and Thursday to Saturday from 9am until 12am.
