My Coffee & Deli Bar

Gino D’Acampo has recently launched a new Italian fast casual dining offer on the lower ground floor of his Pizza & Prosecco bar in Manchester, situated in fashion retailer Next.

Following the huge success of his two existing Manchester restaurants, the UK’s favourite Italian chef has decided to bring a further slice of Italy to the city. Taking inspiration from the coffee shops found in Gino’s hometown, My Coffee & Deli Bar will transport visitors on a journey to Naples. The venue serves real Neapolitan coffee and Italian food, available to eat in or take away.

Launched in September 2018, My Coffee & Deli Bar also serves popular artisan Italian flatbread Piadina, croissants, cakes, muffins and much more, all made in-house by skilled pastry chefs and bakers at Gino’s own bakery. Healthier options are available including superfood yoghurts, home-made porridge topped with berries, honey or nuts and fresh fruit.

Commenting on the new venture, Gino D’Acampo said:

“I can’t wait to launch My Coffee & Deli Bar, a place that serves real Italian food, as it should be, to eat in or to go. Guests can pop in for a quick coffee, bite at breakfast or enjoy lunch with us. It’s a new offering for us but is a common concept in both Italy and London, so we think Manchester will love it!”

The lunch menu boasts hand-stretched Neapolitan pizza, homemade pasta and classic sandwiches with a unique Italian twist – served on artisan Piadina and Spianata breads. Delicious traditional deserts are also on offer, such as tiramisu and panna cotta, alongside a wide selection of vegetarian, vegan and gluten free dishes.

A selection of tasty, cold-pressed juices promises to quench all thirsts. What’s more, with all juices made exclusively by Gino’s very own in-house team, customers can be sure of what they’re drinking.

For those tight on time, an online ordering service is available, enabling customers to order and pay in advance and then simply collect when ready.

This latest opening follows on from the success of Gino’s restaurants in Leeds, Harrogate, Manchester, Liverpool, Hull and London. Further restaurants will launch in partnership with Individual Restaurants in 2018 and a strong pipeline is in place for 2019.

My Coffee & Deli Bar is located on the lower ground of My Pizza & Prosecco Bar, in fashion retailer Next and is open seven days a week from 7am serving breakfast, lunch and an early evening menu.

In conversation with David Martin, Head of Projects for Individual Restaurants

Tell us about Individual Restaurants and Gino restaurants.

“We’ve been involved with these restaurants from conception onwards. Steven Walker, the CEO of Individual Restaurants, is the lead in terms of doing the initial deal with Gino and building the restaurants.”

What was the brief for My Coffee and Deli Bar?

“This one is a concept design for a coffee and deli bar, which is an addition to our existing restaurant on the second floor of the Arndale Centre. The brief was sort of a modern, vibrant, fresh appeal takeaway but high quality takeaway.”

How does it differ to other Gino brands?

“It’s different in terms of its concept but the main materials used to develop the site are Carrara marble and softwood white planked finishes. There’s been a removal of all the photographic images to focus on the extensive takeaway.”

And finally, how important is the relationship between Individual Restaurants and Gino?

“I’m the head of projects for individual restaurants, so I deal with all our major brands and the Gino brand when we started this three years ago has been a great opportunity to develop, design and build the restaurants. It’s been an excellent opportunity for myself as a contracts manager and project manager.”
