Premier Hospitality 9.1

This Month in Premier Hospitality 9.1

Welcome to the latest edition of Premier Hospitality.

In this month’s issue we profile Brian McDonald/McDonald Design; we take a look at the Royal Opera House; and we cast an eye over Punch Tarmey’s.

Having worked on a number of standout projects, McDonald Design is a specialist in the Irish hospitality industry. The architectural interior design company was established in 2004 by Brian McDonald and has worked on high profile projects in Dublin and further afield, including Jameson’s Distillery Dublin, The Button Factory Venue and The Morgan Hotel. In 2018, McDonald Design worked on two prominent hospitality destinations – Cookes Restaurant and Druids Glen Hotel & Golf Resort. In this issue, Premier Hospitality catches up with Brian to find out a little more about his company and its recent work.

Meanwhile, the Royal Opera House in London’s Covent Garden has opened the doors to its transformed new home, following an extensive three-year construction project. With inviting new entrances, extended foyers and terraces and a new café, bar and restaurant, together with an extensive programme of ticketed and free daytime events, activities and festivals for people of all ages, the Royal Opera House is now, for the first time, open to the public every day from 10am.

And finally, a massive brand new Irish pub full of character, Punch Tarmey’s, named after an Irish bareknuckle fighter, has opened inside the iconic former Cains Brewery building on Stanhope Street, Baltic Triangle, Liverpool. Mikhail Leisure invested £7 million in the Cains licence and brand, to redevelop the former Cains buildings and once again called on the Irish Pub Company and McNally Design team to create the concept. The pub is part of the first phase of the redevelopment, which includes many other hospitality elements, including a brewery. Punch Tarmey’s is a sports-led, Irish bar, designed and manufactured in Ireland, with a family-friendly atmosphere in the daytime along with being a destination for revellers in the night. It also hosts brewery tours.

With all this and more it’s time to sit back and tuck into another helping of Premier Hospitality.

Enjoy!
