Dash Restaurant and XOXO Nightclub

The site of the former Living Room and Sugar Hut in Liverpool City Centre has been transformed by its new owners into an elegant contemporary restaurant and VIP basement nightclub.

In collaboration with architects Wroot Design, The 15 Group has given the Victoria Street location a stylish multi-million pound makeover, to become Dash Restaurant and XOXO nightclub.

Dean Jones from The 15 Group told Premier Hospitality magazine: “The first venue I ever owned was opposite what is now Dash and XOXO and I always looked at it and thought it was an amazing venue, amazing space and wondered what it would be like to own it. Once the building became available, I thought it would be a great opportunity to bring something brand new and not seen before in Liverpool to the site.”

Dash Restaurant is located on the upper ground floor with XOXO Nightclub downstairs, across two floors. The architect-led design of the sites has been inspired by Dean’s own European Trip.

He said: “I was in Paris and went into this particular bar and was absolutely blown away by it. With the building being an old building in the city centre, with columns inside and outside and with all of the details, we thought it would be amazing to bring back an elegant, classy and vintage kind of look with a modern, high-end twist.”

Fiona Wroot from Wroot Design added: “The restaurant and the bar are very different from each other. The restaurant is a classic, high-end, light space based on fine details in the finishes and the furniture. The nightclub is much edgier and is more of an experience in its own right. It is something that wouldn’t look out of place in a high-end American venue and is very different to what is available at the moment.”

At Dash, the sites familiar stairway entrance has been retained, leading up to glass doors etched with the Dash signature and inside an on-trend décor colour scheme of blossom and teal contrasts with a bold black and white diamond floor throughout.

Customers are welcomed with a huge 10 metre-plus bar with full length spirit display and bar stool seating, with restaurant banquettes and stand-alone tables for 15 covers to the left, opposite a spacious bar area and curved booth seating.

The DJ box with backlit Dash signage creates a focal point to the right of the entrance, alongside one of two semi-circular features with crystal chandeliers. Italian Carrera marble has been used for walls and pillars to give the space a timeless classic backdrop.

A private dining room offers a sophisticated setting for private parties of up to 36 guests, perfect for a special occasion party or business lunch. The room has its own dedicated server and a dazzling ceiling filled with an expanse of high and low hanging chandeliers.

XOXO has been decorated with a black and gold colour theme and fitted out with futuristic state-of-the-art lighting and a Void sound system. XOXO has a 300 capacity and includes a feature bar, DJ box and a raised VIP area surrounded by a glass balustrade with its own private bar and VIP hostess service for between 80 and 100 guests.

“This is everything to me,” said Dean. “This is the biggest building I have ever taken on and the biggest project I have ever taken on. Having looked at the building for the last 11 years and dreaming of what it could be, it is a proud achievement for me to now be doing this and to bringing something so amazing to the city.”

Fiona added: “It has been exciting to create a new space for the social scene of Liverpool and I believe that there is nothing quite like this in Liverpool so it has been a rather enjoyable project.”
