House Belfast & Onyx

Located on Botanic Avenue, House Belfast is a chic and elegant development with a luxurious atmosphere and laid-back decadent vibe. An attractive addition to Belfast’s hotel, bar and restaurant scene, the venue recently added Onyx, a subterranean nightclub launched in December 2018.

The third addition to the House brand portfolio, House Belfast is the latest project from development masters NolaClan, whose portfolio already boasts House Limerick and House Dublin.

Following the transformation of Madison’s hotel, House Belfast opened in January 2018 with a focus on luxury interiors with a relaxed environment providing guests with a place to eat, drink and play in one unique setting. House Belfast is home to 31 plush and elegant boutique bedrooms, a dramatic central bar and basement bar, a whisky room, a restaurant serving classic Irish dishes with a twist, and now an opulent nightclub; Onyx.

Northern Ireland’s fastest growing fit out company, Pure Fitout, was appointed for the complete refurbishment of the complex, working closely with O’Donnell O’Neil Design Associates and WildWolf to achieve the desired look and feel.

Speaking to Premier Hospitality, Founder and Manging director of Pure Fitout Ronan Higham explained some of the intricate work and details that went into the project:

“Nearly every feature in House Belfast is unique and was created in-house by our specialist team of craftsmen to meet the exact specifications of the client’s brief.

“A stunning 20ft cherry blossom tree was assembled by our team to create the central feature of the main bar, composed of over 2,000 blossoms.

“We also completed the entire makeover of the external façade of the building, installing beautiful new windows with tailor-made steel frames, reshaping the entrance and creating a new terrace area.”

“Pure Fitout worked around the clock and invested in an army of workers to ensure the projects were completed ahead of peak time for both venues.

“The most challenging element of these projects was ensuring the venues were both up and running in time for welcoming customers ahead of Christmas. We put extensive planning and resources in place to complete an 18-week programme for House Belfast within just 12-weeks and completing Onyx within just four weeks. This involved committing 80-100 staff and ensuring we were on site seven days a week, developing a strategic logistical plan and manufacturing every feature in-house where possible,” said Higham.”

Reflecting on the project, Higham concluded: “We’re delighted to have helped create another stunning venue for NolaClan. We have a longstanding relationship and are proud to have helped make their vision a reality.”
