Ringwood Hall Hotel & Spa

Ringwood Hall Hotel & Spa is a beautiful 19th century manor house set amongst six acres of formal award winning gardens, surrounded by 29 acres of parkland. Ideally located on the gateway to the Peak District in Chesterfield, Derbyshire with excellent access to the M1, both north and south, Ringwood Hall Hotel & Spa provides the ideal location whatever the purpose of a visit.

Over the last three years the hotel has undergone a significant amount of refurbishment work. Work has been undertaken to bring the hotel to four star status and included converting a 1980’s leisure facility into a state-of-the-art spa, refurbishment of the bedrooms, upgrading the banqueting suites and the refurbishment of the private dining rooms/civil ceremony rooms.

Rona Davies, General Manager of Ringwood Hall Hotel and Spa said: “We have always had a superb garden setting and people are now saying that the award winning gardens are matched by an award winning hotel.”

The Garden Secret Spa, located in the grounds of Ringwood Hall, was one of the main aspects of the refurbishment work.

The Garden Secret Spa at Ringwood Hall opened in June 2018 and features a Vitality Pool, Herbal Sauna, Foot Spas, Himalaya Salt Sauna, Blossom Steam Room, Ice Fountain, Experience Showers, Relaxation Lounges, seven treatment rooms and its own Brasserie. The spa was created to offer its guests an opportunity to ease their mind and body, providing a pathway to heal and balance, nurture and comfort for better health and wellbeing.

Still in its infancy, in August 2018 the spa was awarded the prestigious 5 Bubble rating from the Good Spa Guide, the first of which to be awarded within Derbyshire.

A new terrace development was recently added to the spa. The new terrace wraps around the side and front of the spa, allowing guests access straight form the pool hall out into the gardens. Incorporating heaters and blankets it’s the perfect place to relax and unwind with a hot chocolate and watch the autumn leaves fall.

Another aspect of the refurbishment was The Ringwood Suite, which is in the main Ball Room of the original building. Although the exact year cannot be stated when the hall was originally built, documentary evidence exists to prove that Ringwood Hall stood from 1809, even the Ringwood Suite served to be the Ball Room for the family of the house.

During January 2019 the suite was lovingly restored with original ceiling detail being highlighted within the new paintwork, new carpets, flooring, patio heaters, chairs, new statement mirrors and a stunning draped domed feature which creates the perfect ambiance. The Suite has many uses including, weddings, birthday celebrations and conferences and can cater for up to 250 guests.

Rona said: “We are thrilled to have been able to restore and revive the Ringwood Suite. It has been nine years since its last refurbishment and it’s fantastic to be able to add the modern touches to this traditional room. The team and I love our guest’s reaction to the changes.”

Work has not yet finished on the hotels transformation with a final few bedrooms currently undergoing refurbishment as well as the replacement of carpet in the corridors.

“We have had lots of positive feedback about the refurbishment and it is attracting more business, which is very beneficial,” said Rona. “The best feedback for us has been from the AA. They have been very generous in their praise of the investment of the public areas so our rating has gone up.

“Seeing the refurbishment has given me a new perspective of the business. We were stuck in a slight time warp and our market positon was good but it could have been stronger. The refurbishment, investment and change of focus to attract different markets has given me a great deal of job satisfaction, as well as the rest of the team, they are buzzing!”
