The Alchemist Spa at Woolacombe Bay Hotel

The Alchemist Spa, formerly known as Haven Spa, at Woolacombe Bay Hotel has undergone a complete transformation in the shape of a six month refurbishment project.

New for 2019, The Alchemist Spa brings the next generation of spa to the south-west. With health, wellbeing and general feel-good factor at its core, The Alchemist Spa is where guests can escape. They can curl up in the sumptuous relaxation suite, drift away in the luxurious low-lit treatment rooms, relax in the rasul suite and be revitalised by a selection of heat experiences. Every single element at the new spa has been designed with guest’s wellbeing at its heart.

The refurbishment project included the refurbishment of the two storey spa, refurbishment of the gym (with split mezzanine level), indoor swimming pool refurbishment and inclusion of a new bar, new wellbeing facilities and a cinema and projector room.

Overseen by hotel Managing Director Sally Lancaster, the project began in October 2018 with Design Manage Build (South West) Ltd acting as the projects main contractor. Spa Vision supplied design and installation of the rasul suite in addition to sourcing the four new LEC Kensington + Studio treatment beds and one Gharieni SPL soft treatment bed to complete to spa space.

Completed in February 2019, approximately 1,000m² has been refurbished in total.

Commenting on the spa refurbishment, hotel Managing Director Sally Lancaster told PREMIER HOSPITLAITY: “Becoming a great hotel doesn’t come easily but it is with this in mind that we are working to create a hotel that answers the needs of all the family, without losing sight of its heritage and culture. Much of the hotel has been lovingly restored from the mid 1800s, creating its unique and tranquil atmosphere. High ceilings, chandeliers and comfortable quiet lounges have been testament to that era and where first class modern amenities are required; they have been skillfully incorporated into the existing hotel. The new facilities this year mark our 40th year of privately owning the hotel and co-inside with our recent four Silver Star award from the AA.”

Following the refurbishment, the Spa is proud to work with Natural Spa Factory – a natural British brand. Treatments at the spa are truly inspired by the seasons and derived from nature. All Natural Spa Factory products are free from parabens, SLS, MI or MCI, Microbeads and they have not been tested on animals. The result is a collection of natural and beautiful products that inject goodness and wholesome nourishment into body and skin; boosting guests from the outside in.
