This Month in Premier Engineering 1.4
Welcome to Premier Engineering.
In this issue we highlight leading marine, civil engineering and building specialist Keating; we take a look at the A465 Heads of the Valleys Dualling; and we cast an eye over M11 Gorey to Enniscorthy PPP Scheme.
Keating is a Marine, Civil Engineering and Building specialist with offices across Ireland and the United Kingdom. The company was founded over 30 years ago and in that time has developed a strong reputation as a leading multidisciplinary contractor in engineering.
From its Head Office in Kilmihil, Co Clare, Keating has delivered transformational marine engineering solutions, innovative civil engineering resolutions and ground-breaking construction works. This month at PREMIER ENGINEERING we’re taking an in-depth look at Keating, speaking to key individuals in the Marine, Civil Engineering and Building departments to find out about how the company operates and continues to succeed in the ever-evolving construction landscape.
The A465 runs across the northern edge of industrial south Wales Valleys. From the M4 west of Swansea, the road runs parallel to the M4 and connects through to the M40, and on to the English midlands, providing an important west-east connection. This road forms part of the Trans-European Road network (TEN-T) and is one of the most varied and scenic major routes in the UK.
A project was started in 2000 to dual 40km the A465 between Abergavenny and Hirwain to complete the upgrade of the route. PREMIER ENGINEERING spoke to Matt Enoch, the Welsh Government’s Project Director who talked us through the project in more detail:
The M11 Gorey to Enniscorthy PPP Scheme comprises of a new motorway from the end of the Gorey Bypass at Clogh to the townland of Scurlockbush, south of Enniscorthy. The scheme also includes a bypass of the N30 to the west of Enniscorthy and a link road to the N80.
Work began in 2016 but most recently the project is at a stage where M11 EJV are getting prepared to open this project to traffic in the third quarter of 2019.
With all this and more it’s time to dive into Premier Engineering. Go well!
