COMO Metropolitan London

COMO Metropolitan London has announced the opening of ten luxury Residences, designed by architects and interior designers Forme UK. The Residences offer private apartment-style accommodation adjacent to the hotel on Brick Street, in Mayfair’s historic heart and opposite Hyde Park, with easy access to all major rail links. The two-bedroom Residences provide an ideal base for long or short stays in London, reflecting all the comforts of home living at its finest.
Linzi  Coppick of Forme UK said: “Over the last 20 years I’ve worked with the owners and the management staff forming a relationship of understanding and trust.  The contact we maintain meant that fortunately we were able to get involved in the refurbishment of the Brick Street residences. They’ve owned the property for many years and it was tired and in need of not just a refresh, but a general assessment of how the spaces can be maximised and work better ergonomically. ”

The new Brick Street Residences are sized from 105sqm to 110sqm. Inside the Residences,

designer Linzi has prioritised a sense of home. Each residence offers large open-plan living and dining areas, with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. The objective was to reorganise the existing spaces within the apartments to reflect a modern contemporary approach to ‘living’. Natural daylight floods the spacious apartments, augmented by contemporary design with subtle warmth and bespoke artwork by Marta Suarez.
Linzi commented:

“The open plan living is definitely a design highlight. Prior to refurbishing , the apartments were all compartmentalised,  which meant the internal hallway was very dark and gloomy. Without changing the façade, but reorganising the internal architecture  and installing a glazed partition between the living space and the hallway  light now floods the space making them more appealing. By relocating  the bedrooms and living spaces, they are now more cohesive with modern life.”

Natural wood floors and furniture from BO Concept in the open-plan living and dining area creates a sleek entertainment area adapted to the modern traveller, whether guests are staying as a family or visiting for business. Pale oak floors throughout provide a neutral base with added practicality for housekeeping. This combined with ‘flint grey’ veneers to entrance doors and joinery elements exudes a quality that sits perfectly with upholstery in silvers and duck egg hues .Bedrooms  have maximum wardrobe space, sleek upholstered headboards and glass topped furniture. Wall lights and LED lighting concealed within furniture provide an atmospheric ambience with bedside reading lights integrated into the headboard also.

The Residences have a separate entrance from the hotel which is located on Brick Street.

Access is through a large format automated glass sliding door set within a quality silvered

timber surround, capped off with a glass canopy. The finishes within the compact lobby exude quality and longevity. The space is enhanced with a large scale modern pendant light which reflects in a glamorous mirror situated in front of the stone clad ‘Butler’s Station’.
The Residences offer the same five-star facilities and services as the hotel, which is a one-minute walk away, with 24-hour room service, central heating and air-conditioning, as well as a daily maid and laundry service. Guests can also benefit from the expertise of a 24-hour concierge whether booking appointments at the hotel’s holistic wellness centre — COMO Shambhala Urban Escape, London —, arranging personal training sessions in the fully equipped gym, or making priority reservations at the hotel’s Gridiron or Nobu restaurants.
Linzi commented:

“It was quite a quick construction programme ; we started on site in January and  had to be entirely complete  by 1st June to receive guests .The logistics of the building made this challenging and there’s often the unknown to encounter. Our client is always clear with their brief and expectations which makes delivery of a successful project easier to achieve. Como are visionary about their brand and we are respectful and understanding of that. We were proud to be team players working with exceptional contractors and consultants with good communication to ensure any issues were addressed and resolved immediately making sure the project kept moving.”
