A third Bocabar site has opened at Finzels Reach, a waterside development in Bristol.  The site, which opened in November 2019, joined existing food and drink sites at the development including Spicer + Cole, Left Handed Giant and Le Vignoble.

Bocabar is open seven days a week and has an eclectic feel; combining a vintage and rustic look with a little bit of luxury.

Speaking to PREMIER HOSPITALITY MAGAZINE about the site, Rebecca West from Simple Simon Design said: “The design brief was to create a scheme for a restaurant/bar within a new development of an existing Brewery site. As an existing brand, Bocabar asked us to create a new restaurant that would still be recognisable as a Bocabar, drawing on the charm and character of the brands offering. It needed to function well as both a bar and a restaurant space, so we kept this in mind throughout the design process.”

Bocabar serves breakfast, lunch and dinner to diners with reclaimed wood and copper features inside and a part-covered outside seating area with 70 covers.

“The design concept creates a warm interior, using reclaimed panelling, vintage lighting and a mix of new and old furniture,” said Rebecca. “The back bar is constructed from reclaimed wooden columns while the front is a Verdigris Copper paint finish, creating a deep green effect with large feature pendant lights from Rothschilds and Bickers.

“We worked really closely with our client on this project; a bit of a collaboration. Owner Mel Eavis was very involved with the specification process and sourcing, ensuring the furniture, lighting and bric-a-brac were reflective of the brand. We are really pleased with the outcome and feel there is a good balance between old and new, creating the vintage, eclectic look and feel we all hoped to achieve.”

As well as its new site at Finzels Reach, Bocabar has sites at Paintworks, Bristol and Glastonbury.

Rebecca added: “I was really excited to work on this project as I had previously worked for Bocabar before studying Interior Design and joining the Simple Simon team. This helped me feel like I had a really good grasp on the brands qualities and offering which I was able to demonstrate across the design.

“As a team, we are always looking for new clients to work with and it is great to be building on relationships, particularly in our local city of Bristol.”
