Time Square

An eagerly awaited renaissance for Warrington’s leisure scene, Time Square is creating history as Warrington’s signature family-friendly shopping restaurant and leisure hub.

It is the beginning of a new chapter for Cheshire’s largest town. Time Square is creating a destination for fun-loving, metropolitan Warrington locals and the North West’s visitors alike to experience. The £142 million mixed use development created up to 400 construction jobs whilst it was being constructed, and 400 permanent jobs in the leisure, retail and restaurant sector.

A new state-of-the-art Cineworld takes centre stage, with 13 screens. There is a market hall, replacing the old market building whilst maintaining modern charm, a new public square which is perfect for hosting events, pop up retail opportunities and experiential marketing. There is a 103,000 sq. ft. office facility for 1,100 employees at Warrington Borough Council and a new 1,160 space multi-storey car park to serve the scheme and the wider Warrington town centre.

The landmark Cineworld neighbours restaurant and bar concept The Botanist’s flagship at Time Square, which opened its doors in late November 2019. The extra-wide Superscreen delivers an immersive experience with vivid laser-projection visuals, and in a first for Cineworld, it is fitted with 32 Dolby Atmos speakers for multidimensional sound. The cinema also incorporates a Starbucks café and a dedicated Baskin Robbins ice cream counter.

Kevin Frost, Cineworld’s UK Property Director commented at the time of the launch of the cinema: “It is a major milestone to be opening our doors within this dynamic development. As an anchor at Time Square, and a pioneering operator, we look forward to seeing Cineworld shape the new face of leisure in the Warrington as a community-led venue.”

The Botanist venue  spans 10,000 sq. ft. and has been designed by an in-house team as an eclectic haven for visitors, decorated with signature antique trinkets, greenery and a ‘water wall’ feature. With an extensive outdoor area, The Botanist Time Square is providing a unique offer for the region, with a wide selection of experimental botanical cocktails, a deli-inspired menu, live entertainment, and creative mixology masterclasses.

The venue offers a range of botanical cocktails, craft ales and a food menu inspired by the comforting flavours of home.

Chris Hill, CEO at The New World Trading Company, said: “As the first site to open to the public at Warrington’s Time Square, we are pleased The Botanist will forge the path for this exciting foodie, leisure and retail scheme. Along with the bar and restaurant, The Botanist will also offer live music and a range of brilliant masterclass experience, making it a great go-to destination for any occasion – we’re excited to become a part of the local community.”

Situated in the centre of Warrington with excellent accessibility via road and rail networks, Time Square will meet the area’s high demand for a fresh retail, leisure and entertainment destination.

According to a report by CACI, Time Square will increase Warrington’s catering market potential by 14% to £68.5 million, moving Warrington up three places to make it a top ten dining destination in the North West.
