A project to construct a new office and workshop for road haulage service provider William Nicol (Aberdeen) Ltd continues to make good progress.
The project – situated at Badentoy Industrial Estate in Grampian – comprises the erection of an office block and workshop facility, along with an associated car park. Architectural practice Alan G W Forbes is the architect on the project, WA Fairhurst & Partners is the structural engineer and Beedie Mitchell Limited is the quantity surveyor.
A planning application for the project was submitted in 2011. Work began on the project in December 2012 and is currently on schedule to reach completion in early September 2013.
The new office building is a two-storey structure, built from a steel frame with metal cladding. The building will include powder coated aluminium windows, door and roofing. The new development will include a linked mains supply, along with CCTV and alarm systems.
The office building is being constructed next to the workshop, adjacent to William Nicol’s existing facilities. As the site is quite isolated from the public there are currently no issues with access to the development.
To complete the project a new car park will be installed and some associated landscaping works will be conducted, to tie the new development into the existing yard.
At present the foundations are now in place for the building and the steel frame will be erected shortly. The project encountered a few delays with the steel, however this has now been resolved and work continues to move forward on the project with no major problems.
