EaseBuild undertake an array of construction projects across all industry sectors and are capable of delivering small repair and maintain works to projects worth £100 million in value.
They are particularly adept at completing fast track projects on time and within budget and are able to overcome difficult construction schemes within a tight timeframe. Having been in operation for four years EaseBuildcontinue to make challenging construction easy.
Havingbuilt up an impressive portfolio since their inception, EaseBuild have a tendency to earn repeat business thanks to delivering a quality service for clients at all times, thanks in part to the range of in-house skills and experience that they can offer to clients and the relationships built up over the years with local and reliable tradespeople.
This approach has enabled EaseBuild to establish strong and lasting relationships with their clients. They have, for example, delivered numerous schemes at the Eden Project and continue their working relationship to this day.
The most recent scheme they undertook at the Eden Project was the installation of the rainforest canopy walkway in the Humid Biome. They began work in January 2013 and reached completion in May 2013. The project involved building bridges, towers and walkways through the tree canopy within the 40 degree biome whilst it remained open to the public.
All materials had to enter and leave the biome through a temporary airlock to avoid temperature shock to the tropical plants and through a two and a half metre doorway. The EaseBuild team also made sure any noisy or intrusive works, such as installing piled foundations, were undertaken during the night or extremely early in the morning before the biome opened at 10am.
In April 2013 the team commenced construction of a new build private residential project in Cornwall which took seven months to complete. The bespoke timber frame structured house included glulam beams, a high level of insulation and air tightness, a green roof, photovoltaic panels, solar tubes, air source underfloor heating, well water filtration system and a very high specification of finishes, fixtures and fittings.
We caught up with John Fox, EaseBuild’s Area Manager for Cornwall, to find out more about the firm’s recent involvement in Zacry’s restaurant at Watergate Bay Hotel. They acted as the main contractor on Zacry’s and carried out the extension and refurbishment of the existing dining facilities and kitchen, to create an open plan kitchen and a larger, lighter dining space to compliment the rest of the hotel’s facilities and public areas.
EaseBuild began work on the site in December 2013 in order to carry out asbestos removal to the existing areas and some initial foundation and drainage works for the extension. The venue was then re-opened for the hotel guests and public to use over the Christmas period before works restarted in January 2014, and were finished in record time by the end of February 2014.
John told us that the team carried out a range of demolition works including the removal of the old front façade to the restaurant. They also demolished some walls between the old restaurant and the kitchen to create an open plan kitchen. The restaurant was also extended to create a larger dining space.
“This is the fourth winter we have undertaken work at Watergate Bay Hotel; we have previously carried out two phases of The Village development – 16 high specification holiday let properties above the hotel, constructed the hotel’s swimming pool and spa and extended and refurbished The Living Space.
“We are very pleased to have such a great working relationship with the hotel. It is great to have a client that understands the value we bring to the construction process. We always take the time and care to ensure that we understand what the client wants and then we deliver it.”
John said EaseBuild hope to work with Watergate Bay again in the future and will continue to provide a quality service at all times:
“We pride ourselves on delivering projects in a relationship-based manner and try to make the whole process enjoyable for everybody. Operating in this way we look forward to delivering more great projects across Devon and Cornwall.”
