Incorporated in 1953, John McQuillan (Contracts) Ltd is a leading civil engineering and road surfacing company which delivers a wide range of projects. Past works for John McQuillan (Contracts) Ltd include the Lurgan Junior High School Pitch Development project, the demolition of St. Colmans Primary School in Lambeg and the Antrim Castle Gardens scheme.
A more recent project was the construction of the Giro Team Paddocks in Belfast’s Titanic Quarter, which was completed ahead of the Giro d’Italia event in May 2014. The project comprised the provision of a high quality team paddock along the Titanic Slipway for the prestigious cycling event.
McQuillans Director, Paul Brogan, said:
“We were delighted to be appointed as the official technical partner for this project and also demonstrate our support for local government in attracting a global event of this nature to the city. The Titanic Slipway was transformed into a Paddock where 22 of the world’s leading pro cycling’s teams were based during the Belfast stages. Within a very limited construction period of two and a half weeks, with a team of only 25 men, we prepared and drained the area and finally surfaced 15,000m² (4.5 acres) with asphalt concrete. In keeping with the Giro theme, drainage on the site was finished with a layer of pink aggregate.”
John McQuillan (Contracts) Ltd has also been involved in numerous environmental improvement schemes which are situated within towns and cities. Schemes include the Ballycare Environmental Improvement scheme, Titanic Memorial Gardens and the Crumlin Village Renewal Scheme.
John McQuillan (Contracts) Ltd is joined by McQuillan Quarries, which comprises two quarries: Budore Quarry in Dundrod and Belfast & Edentrillick Quarry Ltd at Dromore. The quarries provide services to Greater Belfast, Lisburn and South Antrim and the South, East and West of Co Down and both include an asphalt coating plant.
McQuillan Envirocare is McQuillan Companies’ specialist department for the safe disposal of hazardous waste. McQuillan Envirocare handle, transport and dispose of waste for hospitals, industries and public bodies throughout Ireland and work in conjunction with McQuillan Skip Hire.
Based at Budore Quarry, Quarry McQuillan Skip Hire provides a total waste solution throughout Northern Ireland. The company builds strong working relationships with its customers and has built up a fantastic reputation in the industry for its high quality services.
To complete the McQuillan offering is the company’s final two divisions, Patterson Outdoor Cleaning Solutions and McQuillan Envirocare Analytical Services.
Patterson Outdoor Cleaning Solutions provides clients with a comprehensive cleaning service, utilising a bespoke fleet of vehicles and fully trained operatives. The company has a large portfolio of clients, including sports stadiums, schools and high street retailers and provides services, from landscaping and litter control to graffiti removal and grounds maintenance.
Based in Antrim, McQuillan Envirocare Analytical Services is a state-of-the-art analytical laboratory, which was opened to provide additional services to McQuillan’s current offerings.
