Situated opposite Newcastle Central Station, Hampton by Hilton Newcastle is a stunning new hotel boasting 160 beds.
The hotel offers up spacious, modern guestrooms with free Wi-Fi, as well as a hot breakfast and a range of amenities.
Hampton by Hilton Newcastle is housed within a former 1960s office building – which was converted under the Business Premises Renovation Allowance (BPRA) tax scheme – and is surrounded by retail offerings and a bar/restaurant. The hotel is located on the second floor of the building, however the hotel’s reception is found on the ground floor.
Metnor Construction was the main contractor on the conversion project, whilst SP Studio was the design practice on the scheme.
Speaking to Premier Hospitality about their involvement with Hampton by Hilton Newcastle, SP Studio Managing Director, Stuart Palmer, said:
“We were employed to devise the concept design for the building and take it up to what is known as 50% sign off, in which all of the layouts are agreed, from front of house to back of house. This document was then handed over to the main contractor, Metnor Construction.
“Although there is a certain brand standard with every Hampton by Hilton, most of the hotels have slight differences which make each specific to their location.”
As the project involved the conversion of an existing building, rooms at Hampton by Hilton Newcastle are generally larger than the brand standard for a new build project. Each room offers comfort and style and benefit from excellent views of the city.
“The building sits in quite a strategic place within the city, in a high level focal point, so views out of the rooms are great – in particular the building is in a conservation area, so it is surrounded by listed buildings.”
Additional features of the rooms include a walk-in shower, a large desk, a portable lap desk and of course, a comfortable bed. Meanwhile, the hotel includes a 24-hour fitness room which includes contemporary cardio facilities and resistance and weight equipment.
Working on Hampton by Hilton Newcastle has been an important project for Stuart and one which he is very proud to have been associated with.
“Our practice was born out of delivering bespoke, high-end residential and mixed use schemes. This is the second hotel project which we have been involved with, so it is a huge stepping stone for us which allows us to create a portfolio of hotel works.”
Hampton by Hilton hotels can be found in more than 2,000 locations across the world, including North America and Europe. No matter which hotel guests choose to stay in, they are always guaranteed the same high level of service and comfort.
